May 29, 2014 6:16 AM in response to Madashelluphereby pattii55,I am currently upgrading 15 Macs at work to Mavericks. People are NOT happy losing the full color tagging system. We use it to make things stand out in long folder lists on the server, and to tag our job progressions. The color labels encircling the entire Folder or Document name was a useful feature. Maybe the dot works if you work in folders showing icons all the time because the dot comes at the beginning of the name, but if you use List or Column view, that new dot system is useless. Completely useless. Trying to find a tiny dot at the far right side of your window. Or it's covered up by a partially overlapped other window. When you're reading through document or folder names along the left side of the column anything minor on the far right is not even relevant.
Apple please put back the full color labels!! Minimizing is NOT always better!!!
In the next update please at least give us a choice of the Dot or the ENTIRE color label.

Jun 2, 2014 3:19 PM in response to bikinijackby peter_watt,It didnt feature on the announcement. in fact the word "color" did not appear in there. The closer OSX gets to look like iOS the less likely it will ever come back. .

Jun 2, 2014 3:38 PM in response to peter_wattby ianska,If you look at what they showed of Finder you'll see the little coloured dots next to the folders as they are now with tags. Wouldn't get your hopes up.

Jun 7, 2014 6:47 AM in response to Barney-15Eby cirom,With all due respect Barney, maybe YOU did'nt use labels, and find "tags" great. But I dont and apparently neither do the vast majority posting here. Real visual feedback is me looking at a list of files and folders and immediatly knowing which ones I need by the colour I chose to depict them in or not. As opposed to selecting a red or whatever tag and being presented with list tof say 12,568 items I've produced over the last few years that are also tagged in red or whatever. I can see the possible use for that certainly and would use it occasionaly, like once a year, whereas labels was used daily. So what I can't see is how the powers that be in Apple failed or chose not see a fundamental difference and usefullness between the too.
I trust they have the humility to say to the design team responsible that in hinsight they screwed up on this one, and revert to something that actually fullfilled a usefall role. Or keep both.......
