Nov 22, 2013 9:47 PM in response to Alancitoby dianeoforegon,I'm assuming this works in Mavericks. Nothing on the Web site or MAS about support for Mavericks.

Diane ~ Yes, Folders Factory does work in Mavericks — but it would be nice if the Folders Factory website explicitly indicated that. The Mac App Store indicates: "Compatibility: OS X 10.6 or later" — which includes Mavericks. And a few posts after mine in this thread...
I downloaded the Folders Factory, but i still feel super DOWN! Give me back my old system.
And in another thread:
Yes, in fact I own that App and it does help highlight folders. Unfortunately, I also have numerous individual files which I also like to be able to find quickly with highlighting and I know of no way to highlight files now that Labels is no more... too bad...

Nov 23, 2013 3:59 AM in response to Alancitoby Zarnywoop,I, too, feel very strongly about this. I miss my colored files and folders. The new way is much harder to use. I don't care that you can now have multiple tags (okay, it might be nice, but so far I haven't felt the need to bother using this feature).
Apple,
I CAN'T SEE MY COLORED FILES AND FOLDERS
THE USABILITY HAS GONE DOWN, NOT UP
Stop removing things! If you want to add something new and make it the default then fine, go ahead, all for it, but you owe your existing loyal user base a way to get back to what they are already used to - like a preferences setting for example.

Apple's feedback site for OS X is here:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
And Apple calls the feature under discussion "color labels" (Source). ...To ensure clarity, it's probably a good idea to use that same terminology in your feedback to Apple.

Nov 23, 2013 5:00 AM in response to Alancitoby Fatlad1,Hi
Just found this thread, the new labels feature has stopped me updating any more of our macs! The "old" labels workflow runs throughout our business and is a brilliant quick way of locating where jobs are up to.
I also mentioned the monochrome tool bar from lion onwards.
Is there any way to get the old red delete and blue new folder buttons?
might start a new thread?

Nov 23, 2013 7:17 AM in response to petermac87by Doug-H1955,Apple may not be an active participant here, but as it's an apple site, they'd certainly have someone watching. Apple is way too cleaver to ignore discussions of their agressive users, as they are the ones who provide insight concerning issues they may run across.
Yes, the feedback site is the means to directly challange Apple to deal with issues, however, combining the infoemation both on the feedback site along sieht the discussion here would provide a well rounded comprehention of the issues.

Nov 23, 2013 1:11 PM in response to Wizard_Magic_Spellby grdh20,Xtrafinder oddly has a feature that allows you to see existing color labels in the sidebar of all things. Maybe they can have a real labels option too? We should ping the Dev a few times.
Here is Xtrafinder's email so it can't hurt to ask right?

Nov 23, 2013 5:57 PM in response to Madashelluphereby DMUK,As a pro photographer, I have used coloured labels for years to identify folders with images that require retouching (purple) that are then changed to Red when done & then change to green when sent for printing. So at a glance, I can identify at what stage each job is at. The tiny coloured dots are difficult to see and will seriously slow down our work flow. - See more at: http://www.tracyevans.name/2013/10/31/the-cognitive-need-for-osx-finder-labels/c omment-page-1/#comment-3632

Nov 23, 2013 6:46 PM in response to DMUKby DABbio,I've already responded here and on the referenced Apple link. But it doesn't hurt to add some more explanation, I suppose. Like DMUK, I have a priority scheme for folders and files, ranging from red for "hot/immediate action" through orange for "warm," yellow for "in process," etc., down to blue for "no further action/pending." If Apple tells me to use tags instead and just to call for the right tagged items, that will really screw me up, because I often fail to reprioritize. So if I were to call up all the immediate action items, I would probably get 1,000. Please, Apple, let us work the way we work. Steve was opinionated, but also customer-responsive. Or was he?

Nov 23, 2013 8:25 PM in response to Alancitoby dianeoforegon,Thanks for the clarification. You never know for sure when it says 10.6 and higher if that was old and needs updating. The author definately needs to update his site.
I can see how using the template color folders like a label would work similar to labels.
I sent my feedback. I would like to see options for both labels and tags.

Nov 25, 2013 10:46 AM in response to grdh20by Kevin Thorne,Unfortunately Xtrafinder only shows labels in the sidebar, which is odd. If they can do that, they surely ought to be able to show them in the finder itself.
