Q: I hate the new tags in Mavericks, need coloured folders!!

Is there a way to return the colour folders when using the new tags like the old behavior of labels? These new circle thingees are too small and barely noticable.

I had no idea that you have made yourself Moderator of this Support Function.  Every other email I get is from you as if you are running this support forum. Or, are you just boared and need attention?  I, for one, see no added info you give but repeating things you have said before.  So please stand down and let the support forum operate as it was intended and not hijack the discussion as you have repeatedly.  If not, I will let Apple know of your continual default ownership of the forumn.

Did you ever read the Terms Of Use? You agreed to them, as does everyone. Break them and the moderators have to censor the thread to comply with those. Spelling mistakes are good to see. Give a human side to the forums.  So do you have a technical issue or just wish to troll?  It is meant to be a troubleshooting forum.

To all whom it may concern:

All of this bickering, trolling, and ad hominem abuse is really littering this thread. It is childish, embarrassing, and by definition it is off topic. For that last reason alone it should stop. And it will only stop if all involved stop baiting and/or replying.

May we please continue the conversation on-topic?

I'm a spanish professional who miss the mountain lion label style. It is not productive the new way (multy tags are ok but it's another thing).

I hope the administrator not to delete my message now...

I agree. Starting to think I should go back to pre-Mavericks state. So many issues with this update I'm starting to wonder about apple too. The problem list goes past the coloured labels... Will post a number of complaints with apple.

So, Ars readers only have issues with that handful that were in the article? I would imagine that there are quite a few other isssues that were also not covered.

Of course, Labels may not be as big an issue in general as some of those mentioned in the article. Finder windows/tabs, monitor connections and Quick Look are valid issues (notice that I didn't just write them off because I don't have a problem with them). And QuickTime conversions, like Lables, is probably a significant issue to some.

However, the "look" of the dock on the left is certainly not s critical issue as far as I can tell. Some people may not like the look, but it doesn't negatively effect their work.

Some of the issues in the article seem to be in areas that many people would not generally encounter, while others are not.

Whether there were absolutely no Ars readers who felt that Lables were an issue, or the author just didn't include them in the limited article doesn't mean that they are of no consequence althgether.

I Am not going to repeat pete's link. But he is right you have to post on the feedback. I am sure that BIIIIG posts like this do get some attention of people on the teams but feedback is the proper way. The more the feeback the more it's escalated.

No one is coming up with actual solutions. Just 'Give me back my folders' - this is not goign to happen. I've already found them fantastic when you create a list on the left.

For example I have xomething like Tags marked

    Client A

    Client B
    Client C

    Invoices

    Current Work

    Completed Work

Clicking on any can hold a single folders you need or impotantly mixes betweek the 2...

Anyways I am sure most of you knwo how they actually work, but I definitly miss being able to quickly Markup a file/folder I need to get to quickly ( just as aside... http://stclairsoft.com/DefaultFolderX/ is the most useful addon ever!!! But does not specifically solve this )

So I have tried to come up with solution for Tags / Folders that could work very well

I posted this on the feedback site.

    1. Coloured foldered should be returned.

    2. Tags are great BUT often in some views like the list/ view, the dots are hanging of the end of the Finder window.

    3. Tag dots are hard to scan and find folders quickly.

    4. The TAG Column cannot be moved infront of the NAME in List

    Possible Fixes.

Return Simple Label functionality,  keeping tags seperate.

    or

FIRST tag in the list is the colour the folder is. ( Right click show/hide folder colour )

Tag order is currently changed in the TAG button dropdown so...  Tag Dots could be movable DIRECTLY in finder lists. Curently they overlap they coudl be in a line when where is space and you can just drag them arround, this can also be a quick way of tagging other folders

In icon view they should be listed Underneath

I have attached some clunky examples!

Ars did an artilce on the Top 5, obviously there are issues not listed in the article.  However, they are reader comments, not the authors.  Labels was not listed as it was not in the Top 5, not due to "limited space" as you suggest (pehaps if the participants here had voiced their complaints to Ars as well, it may have "made it")
