Jan 21, 2014 7:39 PM in response to Csound1by PeterBreis0807,That is not inconsistent at all.
The default is that it does not show Save As…
If you haven't used the Office Installer, and it sounds like you haven't because the iMac didn't have your usual software, then that is what you get.

Jan 21, 2014 7:46 PM in response to PeterBreis0807by Csound1,I meant inconsistent regarding the Macs I use at home, one does and one does not show a Save As, the one that does has been upgraded from SL to Mav, the one that does not came from ML.
The office machines share a single image, but they do show Save As, all of these are now running Mav but I do not know if they are on the same build, I will check that.

Jan 21, 2014 7:50 PM in response to Madashelluphereby suckaboo,Hey Csound and peter,
would you please take your epic rap battle somewhere else. 4 pages of you guys bickering about save as is totally out of place here. I'd like to refer to this thread for what it was intended for, and I'm guessing i'm not alone

Jan 21, 2014 8:00 PM in response to suckabooby PeterBreis0807,Fair enough suckaboo.
Csound
If you want to take this to the Pages forum, and we have stopped feuding, we can follow through your System setup, because as I said if we can determine what has changed that is a method for fixing the Save As… menu.
Don't worry, I can battle with you or I can work co-operatively with you.
You are not alone in having to take the long walk to water.

Jan 21, 2014 8:23 PM in response to wheetabixby Peohguy,Good going. You woke me up Duplicate is really a two step process for Save As Either the drop down for Duplicate (or ****-Cmd-S) followed by a drop down Save (or Cmd-S) followed by a name change or go by copy which either way works if you just want to put a back up copy someplace else.
Thanks for the lessons.

I tried it, but couldn't get it to work.
I went to System Preferences, Clicked Keyboard, then clicked Shortcuts tab, clicked on App Shortcuts at bottom of left list, then clicked All Applications in right window, then clicked the + below bottom of right window, Then clicked on Menu Title in pop up and typed in Save As in the window, then clicked on Keyboard Shortcut and hit the command key then the shift key then the s key and then clicked on Add and tried it with a Pages file and wound up making a duplicate copy.
My description may be somewhat labored and pedantic but I wanted you to see the exact sequence that I went through without any assuming shortcuts in jargon.
What say you?
Best regards,
Peohguy

Seconded. There's probably something to be learned in there, but it has nothing to do with this item any more.

Jan 22, 2014 10:25 AM in response to Peohguyby petermac87,Something on topic perhaps. As yet still no coloured label feature reintroduced to Mavericks. The majority need to send Apple feedback, if the majority want them returned.
Cheers

Jan 22, 2014 10:46 AM in response to Grrregerrrby hotwheels 22,OK. thanks.
if anyone happens to run across a particularly interesting set of YEARLY icons i would be uber interested in getting a link.
also, if anyone runs into a link that allows for additional VISUAL identification of my hard drive in this respect i would be interested in these links as well.
i think at some point i may get the time to do some of these graphic customizations myself but in the meantime i'd be just as happy to get a set of icons that are already identifying the year - - perhaps that also have a color co-ordination that i could add to them (i.e. blue is for work, green is for personal etc, etc).
thanks for the reply and also thanks for the post showing another level of visual customization (very helpful).
personally i think mac should move MORE in this direction and not less. i actually would even like them to help me organize my icons on my desktop in a lot better way (though this is more a geographic organization than a visual one in a sense) as my icons are always getting tracked like stray cats so i can get them in the proper place on the desktop. SOME kind of visual/geographic tool to organize these into GROUPS would be really welcome.
though the implementation is rather basic Fences for my virtual machines does a nice job of this....

Jan 22, 2014 1:17 PM in response to Madashelluphereby grdh20,maybe also add a forum request for the totalfinder labels request link below? Can't hurt in case Apple never relents.
