Jan 22, 2014 5:39 PM in response to PeterBreis0807by Peohguy,Thanx Peter,
I did it and it works. I also took your good advice and modified Duplicate as you suggested, so it to is a part of the File repertoire.
Since I could not find elipsis I used periods and no complaints from Mavericks

Now back to Colored Labels, Tags and Folders.

Jan 23, 2014 5:41 AM in response to Pontotoc Pegby DABbio,Me too. Agree with you, Shaun, and Suckaboo. I wish that you folks would extract this sub-thread on "Save As" and other file processing arcana to some other forum, where I am sure you will be welcome.
Where is Pete, not Peter, when we really need him?

Jan 23, 2014 7:26 AM in response to Tony T1by Peohguy,Maybe he is already here and has been for quite some time in one of his many enigmatic disguises.
Evidenced by these various side issues that are now popping up I am beginning to think that a lot of people are tired of listening with their eyes to all of the rants and raves about tags. Until a solution is recommended or developed I believe it is better to move on and discover a new way of coloring files or solving problems that we can and let the developers solve what they are paid for.
Peohguy, still searching for answers

Jan 23, 2014 7:42 AM in response to Peohguyby DABbio,You're probably right, Peohguy, whoever you are. I stick by my earlier guesstimate that there are at least 50,000 users out there in Mac land who would like to see labels back, so come on hackers, er excuse me, developers. Develop a simple, "does one thing right" freeware/shareware/cheapware/maybe-even-expensiveware solution to give us back colored labels, lots of colors, BTW, that won't screw up those parts of Mavericks that are not already screwed up.

Jan 23, 2014 8:05 AM in response to DABbioby petermac87,Oh good, a guessing game! I will guess that many million prefer tags over the old labelling system. I wonder who gets closest?
Cheers

Jan 23, 2014 8:19 AM in response to grdh20by Peohguy,Why not go to Apple's Feedback link?
http://www.apple.com/feedback/
And let them know your displeasure about the new Tags and elimination of colored folders and labels?
or just light a candle.

Jan 23, 2014 8:34 AM in response to petermac87by Doug-H1955,I would guess that there are just as many millions who would prefer Labels over Tags who would be just as happy if Mavericks had BOTH.
Those who prefer Tags, FINE be happy with them! But don't try and convince those who find Labels valuable that they have no reason to decry their loss.

Jan 23, 2014 8:58 AM in response to Peohguyby ulisesagain,I have written a few times to the link you indicate: http://www.apple.com/feedback/
It would be good if many of us did it. Thanks.

Jan 23, 2014 10:41 AM in response to Doug-H1955by petermac87,See the dangers in guessing compared to linking to facts? There are no figures! There is no Apple alternative. A third party finder back will probably sprout up somewhere in the future, so be patient.
Cheers

If your guess is correct, then Apple will bring back Labels.

Jan 23, 2014 12:25 PM in response to DABbioby genk,I did like your Copernicus reply , only it doesn't seem to come up in this discussion .
It would be great if Mavericks had BOTH tags and labels! But maybe it is wishful thinking....

Jan 23, 2014 1:28 PM in response to DABbioby Peohguy,DABbio,
I wanted to respond to your post regarding your opinions of guessing, but someone in the community, be it host or whomever, would not authorize me to see the post, even if it appeared in my e-mail. But I will go in the back door to give you what I think to be a good definition of a guess which is:
… a guess is a particular and definite conclusion deduced from facts which properly yield only a general indefinite one….
Some (Dr. Thorndyke’s sidekick at the same location) may also say that ...a guess is a conclusion drawn from insufficient facts….
From:
Dr. Thorndyke Mysteries, by R. Austin Freeman location 1398 in my Kindle book
I will bite my tongue and refrain from any more out of focus outbursts for now.

Jan 23, 2014 1:43 PM in response to Peohguyby DABbio,Thanks Peohguy--very interesting--and thanks, genk; I agree with you. I don't know how you got even a glimpse of my essay on guesstimation, because it was bounced, I wonder by whom, as being against the Apple Support Communities TOC due to my gross "speculation." As if this whole thread wasn't full of that, and more power to you all. I'll try again L8R.
