Jan 26, 2014 11:54 AM in response to Madashelluphereby Mark Abram,I find it amazing the lengths people will go to make people feel needy just for wanting some basic labeling functionality. As if it's complicated or in any way difficult to simply provide both options for users? I don't get the logic of removing features. And to change it and then only offer 7 categories is idiotic. Wow: 7 whole categories, how useful.
The picture of the highlighters just brings home the complete absurdity of a $2000 device that can't perform the most basic of functions: add color to help users organize.
Don't use color tagging? Good for you. That in no way means that it isn't a useful feature for others.

wut? That doesn't even make sense. If it isn't a toy, why doesn't it have expanded functionality? Labels help people in business organize their files. Do only toys have color options in your world or something?

Jan 26, 2014 6:47 PM in response to Mark Abramby hotwheels 22,yeah, i said this before but it was the single most missed feature from Mac OS when i had to move to PC for professional business reasons.
i was constantly at a loss in trying to keep my digital files and folders organized when on PC without this feature and /constantly/ thought about the good old days on my Mac UI written by developers who 'get it'. needless to say - losing it on the Mac OS now that i am back basically feels tragic.
i still can't wrap my head around how or why i am going to upgrade the Mac Pro to a new machine in order to move up from Mountain Lion if the new OS's don't have this functionality. i simply cannot imagine my work life managing 2 TB of data without this feature.
granted tagging is an important functionality but one would hope the 7 tag limit is just a starting point as i won't even be using this functionality for anything as it stands anyway...

Jan 26, 2014 8:41 PM in response to hotwheels 22by Doug-H1955,Well, you don't HAVE to upgrade to the new Mac Pro (do you?). I'm going to hang onto my existing MacPro with Mountain Lion until Mavericks gets Lables, even if that means NOT going to the new MacPro.
While I was looking forward to getting the new MacPro, my existing one is still serving me well. Even at work, I'm going to be very resistant to the company's automatic computer upgrade schedule if Mavericks still doesn't have Labels.

So... toys should have colors but $2,000 productivity tools shouldn't because... ? I'm not getting *** you are trying to say here. You seem generally confused and without anything relevant to add to this discussion.
Anyway, lots of disgruntled customers over this, so maybe labels will come back.

Jan 27, 2014 12:08 AM in response to Doug-H1955by JmLeho,Hello
as you, I'm waiting for the coming-back of the labels before buying the new MacPro. It's too important to know the status (thanks to the colour label) of the thousand files I work with.
Then I stay with my "old" MacPro and Snow Leopard.

Jan 27, 2014 8:56 AM in response to hotwheels 22by Peohguy,If you still have to go to your PC here is a WS link with a few interesting file coloring programs being reviewed
http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/be-creative-and-organized-color-code-windows-folder s/
or if you need help finding your files with colored tags here is a WS the provided a quick tutorial that still applies to OS X Mavericks:
http://gigaom.com/2008/04/02/beginning-mac-color-labels/
Just in case you forgot all about it.
I have seen other referrals to Pathfinder 6, but it appears to use tags and doesn't give an option for colored folders, at least I don't see any hype about it in their page, but it might be worth looking into:

I have seen these in other previous discussions but thought I would lump them all here in one spot for your browsing pleasure
