Will the old macbook pro cases fit te new macbook pro cases (late 2013)?

I can assure you it definately will not fit ....I went into the local Apple store today to buy one, foolishly I did not take my new Mac Book Pro retina with me ...the guy there assured me it would fit... no, too big, so back tomorrow to take it back & swop...poor labelling i guess

As the new 13" retina macbook pro is 2mm thinner i would guess that none of the currently sold cases fit.

I don't know for sure but Speck does clearly not support this new version (from homepage) yet and these covers are beeing sold in the online apple store to fit a macbook pro 13" retina. Kinda confusing and misleading. Unless they acctually fit just fine 🙂

I wrote an email to Speck asking for a comment and will return here with the answer when i get it.

Speck answer: "Yes, our current cases will fit the new 2013 MB Pro 13” cases too. The body shape has not changed so they fit just as well as before!"

How one changes the dimensions of something by 2mm without changing the shape is beyond me 🙂

"I recently purchased a new macbook retina and speck case. The top part that connects to the display fits like a glove. However the bottom part with the main body of the keyboard is a little loose. I think this is due to the fact that new new MBPr is 1mm thinner than the earlier model. I'm considering returning the speck case tomorrow in to wait for the new MBPr case."

the 'late 2013' retina mbp 13" are .04" THINNER and therefore any case made for the previous version (despite what the case mfr will lead you to believe) will NOT fit. many hundreds of angry consumers have returned cases that were promised to fit, but did not.

this is in reference specifically to 'snap on' protective cases; sleeves and other carrying cases will be compatible.

I have one and can agree to that post above ^ will return.
