Q: Substitute for Lazy Mouse

Mavericks is working fine, but the upgrade has left my beloved Lazy Mouse dead.

Is there any application like Lazy Mouse - which automatically moves the cursor from any part of the screen to the click area?

MacBook Pro, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

    +1

I'm baffled that any version of OS x does not include this as a standard feature.

Any developers reading this want to joint venture with me on building this as app for Mavericks?

I don't know how I got this working again, but I'll give  you the information I have so far. Like you, I believe that Lazy Mouse functionality should be standard in OSX.

After the recent Mavericks update, I found that Lazy Mouse did not work anymore. I read that, with the recent update, you had to install Lazy Mouse using System Preferences/Security & Privacy/Privacy, and drop Lazy Mouse onto the window; however, it longer works through System Preferences anymore. And the Lazy Mouse still didn't work.

So I went to the App Store and got a free download of PointerFinder - the one free app that claims to perform the same function as Lazy Mouse. And rebooted. And now, for some reason - Lazy Mouse seems to work just like before.

Funny thing.... mysteriously my LazyMouse started working.

    And I didn't install PointerFinder.

    Go Figure...

If you turn on allow System preferences under Security/Privacy/Accessibility/Allow Apps to control it will allow Lazy Mouse to work, but if you click on Lazy Mouse in System Preferences it will crash System Preferences. BUT IT WILL WORK !!!!

Even with System Preferences set in Security & Privacy, I can't get LazyMouse to work. It crashes as you describe when I try to open but it must be set to off. I see no way to enable.

It worked for me...but only after I rebooted my machine. Try this, and post back here.

    Nothing seems to work.

This is the error I see when it crashes:

It seems that several users have been trying to answer this problem, but dianeoforegon still has an issue.

Perheps you should list exactly what you've done so far so we know what we need to suggest...

Well, as mentioned, I was able to make Lazymouse work on my iMac 2009, using Mavericks. However, as Old Jewel software suggests, they stopped updating the software with 10.6. If that doesn't work for you, there are several software options that might work for you:

    Pinpoint Mouse Enhancer

    Pointer Finder

    Cursor Finder

I have no why different machines using the same OS will end up with such different results rendering Lazy Mouse. Until Old Jewel software updates, you may have to move to the more compatible alternatives.
