Traffic not showing on Mavericks Maps
I don't have the option of showing traffic - live in chicago area. The menu item and the icon are both greyed out.
Any thoughts?

Have you permitted the Maps app to use your current location? If you have, you would see an arrow show up in your menulet area on the top right of your screen. If you haven't, I suspect you would not be able to see traffic.
Thanks for the tought.
Just checked, and I did have Maps enabled to use my location in System Preferences / Security & Privacy.
Traffic still does not work for me.
Just realized it was in satellite view.
I switched to Hybrid or Normal view and traffic option is now available.
Problem Solved!

i have the same problem.
my location is enabled - by the way, it was never so precisely pointed in a map before. impressive. Google Maps or my company's cell phone map app never pointed my location with such precision.
but...
2 days with Mavericks so far and never got traffic to show on Maps, regardless of the view option.
Looks like it only shows bad traffic, unlike Google which show green when flowing. Try a big city and see if it shows. Toronto or New York.
