Will iTunes 10.7 run under Mavericks?

I'm on iTunes 10.7 and don't plan on upgrading to Mavericks and you want to downgrade before you upgrade? That's unanswered, Who knows? It may no longer run under Mavericks! I wouldn't plan on downgrading or upgrading anything yet either way until we get more info.

But this has been answered! The people that were on iTunes (10.7) and upgraded to Mavericks launched up iTunes only to find themselves put automatically on iTunes (11) without being asked if they wanted to upgrade to iTunes (11)! You'll be right back where you started! So if you plan on downgrading to (10.7) I would plan on staying on Mountain Lion like me!

Glad I could help. Even if you downgraded to (10.7) after being on Mavericks there's a good chance it may not run because program code is different for the operating system and it might only see iTunes 11. But like I said it automatically sticks you on iTunes 11 with no choice. There was already 2 apps that showed up as incompatible on my software updates. Now iPhoto and iMovie have been updated and they need Mavericks to work. So I'm staying with the Mountain Lion versions of the app. That was told to me ahead of time under software update. I need my iTunes 10.7!

I don't have (5th gen.) iPod with iOS7 so I don't need iTunes 11. iPod Touch (4th gen.) running (6.1.3) and iTunes (10.7) is the place to be, is the home for me! Well whatever floats your boat, you can take the plunge but I'd kiss my iTunes (10.7) and Cover-Flow goodbye Ha-Ha!

itunes 10.7 runs on Maverics. But there is one serious problem - after you have downgraded to itunes 10.7 and reboot your Mac you got a problem in Mac App Store. No one upgrade (except itunes 11.1.2) or any app can be downloaded. (One importatnt notice - if u don't reboot your mac after downgrading to itunes 10.7 all upgrades and downloads in Mac App Store will work fine). There is a screenshot:

after i have upgraded itunes to 11.1.2 and rebooted my mac this problem is disappeared.

So that means it didn't work? You had to go back to iTunes 11 to use Mac App Store? And does this mean you can never reboot your Mac to stay on 10.7?

Come back on that?

OK I HAVE TRIED THIS. i updated to mavericks without even thinking about itunes 11, unfortunately it wiped my 10,7 but i got rid of 11 and did the pacifist way and got 10.7 again only to find it completely ****** my system, all of a sudden songs are stopping at random points, process ituneslibrary.blahblah keeps self quiting and popping up annoying warning messsages, also NOTHING could be updated or redownloaded off the app store while 10.7 was installed.

i attempted to fix permissions, this only made my itunes entirely inaccesible, now i have bitten the bullet and gone to 11, be smart and don't fall for it, if its too good to be true (ie free os) theres often some catch related to self interest brewing behind the scenes. theres such a headache involved with downgrading an os so really don't jump in, osx 11 is right around the corner, the new features are easy to overlook, my pc does run cooler but i lost the last version of itunes i enjoy operating and the piece of mind that it was my computer to do with it what a choose. like come on you got rid of front row and coverflow, weren't they the two big things innovated for osx in recent times that really made the mac feel less like a computer and more like a personal experience? oh thats right, money to be made. excuse me but when innovation was a regular thing for your company the focus was never on "what features can we steal from the next osx to make our customers buy more activity specific products?" before you are the sinking ship merely being pointed in the right direction realise what made you great and don't stop, not the weight or the thinness, it's the usability and the personification

I was often wondering why they were giving this new OS away for free. Could it have been because they wanted to get all the people off the old iTunes?

first they dropped power pc support rendering SO MANY GREAT APPS AND GAMES unusable,

then they took away front row so they could sell more apple tv's,

then they dropped coverflow in itunes, one of the big features of the osx experience in my opinion,

then they dropped the cd dvd drive, not just eliminating the chance to make cd's and dvd's,(usb drives don't work with many devices ie dvd players for the less technologically driven) but pushing you to use itunes store for all your media

this in tern actually make the machines themselves have a shorter life span as they are so compact now there is obviously going to be lots of heat which makes the computers life shorter,(the fans don't seem to really fire up too much by default, have to use 3rd party software to control) the older models had mroe room for airflow.

They're giving it away to get people off of old everything. The whole point is to encourage people to upgrade so as to standardize and reduce ecosystem fragmentation and support costs.

That's why they're giving away Mavericks, and giving free upgrades for iLife, iWork, and a bunch of other stuff. They want as many people as possible using the latest stuff.

You won't say that when 10.9.1 comes out and you can't install it. The MAS is the delivery mechanism for system software updates now.
