Problems with Airplay to Apple TV after Maverick install

I have a mid-11 iMac that I have connected to a Apple TV 3 with ethernet (not wireless). Up until I installed maverick yesterday all was working well with no streaming issues when watching TV from my iMac via Airplay to my Apple TV. After the upgrade the streaming has been seriously downgraded with bad pixilation and hesitancy with the picture. It is pretty much unwatchable now. What has changed with Mavericks to cause such a downgrade in picture quality to the Apple TV?

Airplay is now extending your monitor and you may have to choose a higher resolution to play video.

if you are pushing video directly from iTunes, this may be an issue with your AppleTV settings.

in either case, I would like to know how you are airplaying your content from your iMac to your appleTV. Through iTunes? Through a third party application? natively with airplay mirroring or airplay extend?

Same problem here. My AppleTV 3 is connected to a router on my network - iTunes can find it but Mavericks' new screen sharing feature is a bust. Any ideas on a solution without having to disconnect it from the router and have it connect to the network wirelessly? And yes the ATV is running the latest update. I thought running the update would solve the problem at first but it didn't.

Well I have found the soluntion to my problem - My MacBook Pro is probably too old to take advanage of the new features. I have a Mid-2009 MacBook Pro 13-inch and a Late-2008 15-inch - uggh. Here is link where I found my solution. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5404 . It refers to Mountain Lion and not Mavericks but I assume the same model restrictions apply for the new OS update. You can side-step issue by using AirParrot which I plan to test when I get home.

I have a late 2011 MBP also running Mavericks. Have ATV3. Airplay to ATV worked flawlessly before Mavericks. Now screen goes black for a minute, and then streaming video just lags through still "pics" instead of video. Sound plays, but no video. Just trying to mirror desktop and won't work, extended desktop is a bust as well. Frustrating, hope a patch comes fast.

I have my iMac (2012) set up to connect to my apple tv3 using AirPlay, to play content through mirroring the desktop.

The whole setup is wireless and up until the mavericks update worked seamlessly with no lag.

The only thing that has changed in my setup is the mavericks update, and since then I have serious lag.

Just moving the curser round the desktop stops and stutters under mavericks, and video is pretty much impossible to watch now.

I'm seriously considering downgrading to mountain lion unless this issue is quickly addressed and removed.

Music and video stored in iTunes workes perfectly through home share using the apple tv, the issue is just with AirPlay display.

I've gone through and tried all the settings but have still had no luck with this, so any help would be much appreciated until apple release an update with a fix.

I am running early 2011 Mac Book Pro and yesterday upgraded to Mavericks. I was able to airplay to my TV through Apple TV over the WiFi very nicely just before the upgrade. Mavericks has screwed it up in a big way. The picture is very low resolution on the TV even though my preferences are at 1080p.

Apple has to come out with a solution or I need to downgrade back to Mountain Lion.

Would really appreciate any help!

Thanks
