Why can't I access internet via Safari, iTunes or Mac App Store after installing Mavericks?

Since installing Mavericks I can't access the internet via Apple software - Safari, iTunes or Mac App Store. I can connect ok when using Chrome and I can get email through iCloud. Please help. Thanks in anticipation.

I upgraded my 27" 2013 iMac yesterday. It went smoothly and wireless network was fine throughout the day. The machine went to sleep overnight and in the morning, although wireless showed connected, I actually had no network connection to internet or other machines on my local network.

After much messing around, I finally did the following:

1. Open Systems Preferences/Network

2. Select your wireless network--mine said connected, but didn't work.

3. Use the Assist me button and follow directions.

Whatever this did, my network is now working again. It will be interesting to see if this happens always when the machine sleeps.

Hi All,

Here is what worked for me:

Restart the Computer hold down the option key..

when the computer restarts--> run disk utility.

Then click on the hard disk.. and run repair disk..

then run repair disk permissions.

Restart your computer 3 times.. ( that is how many time it took before it worked for me)

restart-- hold down command-option-P-R..

After the third restart, the app store is working. 🙂

Thanks for your replies. My wireless network, through Time Capsule, has not been affected. I can connect to iCloud and other web pages, but only through Chrome. It's the Apple apps that have the problem.

I have searched various forums and tried everything that has been suggested but nothing works.

On a related query on this forum, Apple are aware of the problem. One posts suggests reverting back to Mountain Lion until the problem has been sorted. Could someone please tell me how I can do this.

I have upgraded Yesterday from ML to Maverick. This morning I learned that my MacbookPro had NO internet connection. Although connected to the wireless and cable router, I could not access the outside world. I revert back to ML using time-machine. It is still running. I hope the revert works otherwise I am lost.

Looking at my imac, initially did not made internet connection too using wirless. Cable was working untill I changed settings to DHCP. It looks like it has something to do with fixed IP and DHCP-IP.

Back to fixid IP, both wireless and cable router allowed internet access.

Can anyone confirm this?

I checked the wifi internet connection by the following conditions.

  1. Connect with wifi router on WEP2 with AES(11n, 130M)
  2. Connect with wifi router on WEP with TKIP(11g, 54M)

Result

  1. After a while (after loading some amount of data from internet), suddenly Safari, Mail and other Apple webkit used Apps will be very sticky, but Chrome is no problem.
  2. Seems to be OK.

It seems that the cause of it will be network driver on Mavericks, or router driver.

I checked the wifi internet connection by the following conditions.

  1. Connect with wifi router on WPA2 with AES(11n, 130M) --->fixed miss spelling
  2. Connect with wifi router on WPA with TKIP(11g, 54M) --->fixed miss spelling

Results

  1. After a while (after loading some amount of data from internet), suddenly Safari, Mail and other Apps used Apple webkit were very sticky or likely stopped loading, but Chrome was no problem.
  2. So far, all Apps seems to be OK.

It seems that the cause of this issue will be for network driver on Mavericks, or for router driver.

had the same problem after installing mavericks on my mac mini which has also os x server running. Therefore it has a fix IP-Adress and specific DNS services running. I had to change back to DHCP and then it worked. So I could install os x server 3.0 and after this changing back to fix IP-Adress and DNS services it seems to work without any problems

I was experiencing the same here. I solved it like in the old days of MS Windows PCs: Restarting the whole system, rebooting.

I have installed Max OSX 10.9, Build 13A603 in my MacBook Air two days ago. Safari's version is 7.0 (9537.71). App Store was not working, neither was iTunes Radio. Now everything is working. BTW I connect to internet through a Netgear wireless router, and Chrome and Firefox never stoped working.
