After update to os x 10.9 mavericks, my macbook is very slow open CR2-files. In Quick-look or Preview.app - i have slowdown about 5sec, then photo opens. At 10.8 similar photos open instantly. Seems like something broke after update. My config: Macbook Pro 13" with Retina, Core i7 3GHz, 8Gb RAM, Intel HD 4000. Have ideas?

mine slow down as well.. my mission control slows down, scrolling though the dock slows down as well, when im online and im scrolling downwards and upwards, the page also slows down and the pictures are all very laggy. same for all other application

I am having the exact same problem after just updating to OS X Mavericks. CR2 files take ages before they are shown. In 10.8 these exact same photos loaded very quickly (instantly). In Adobe Bridge these photos show up quickly as well.

Yes, same problem here after the update to Mavericks, MBP 15", 2010 4GB RAM; it used to be very fast opening the files as a preview in finder using Mountain Lion. Additionally, if I delete a file in cover flow now, the file name disappears but the preview image stays in place, even after scrolling and waiting some time...
I have the exact problem and it's very frustating as i need to edit pics most of the time.
My config : Imac 2011 , i7 3.4ghz , 16GB RAM, RADEON HD 6970M 2048MB, OSX Running on the SSD drive. Any ideas to solve this problem ?!
Same here... it's horrible. CR2 files QuickPreview is loading so slow... any solution Apple pls???
Yeah, the same here. Previewing other files are okay. On Mountain Lion, previewing CR2 files was very fast. After upgrading to Mavericks, it takes about three seconds to preview a single CR2 file on my MBP with SSD. It's really counter-productive when trying to find a photo in hundreds of CR2 files.

Ever since i've updated to the new 10.9 mavericks my mac book pro has been very slow opening CR2 files. Im very disappoint in apple in not testing out CR2 since mac's are heavily used in photo editing.
Same problem with a late 2012 Macbook Air with 8Gb of RAM. CR2 files take ages to open.
I've the same problem with 2 different Macs (MacBook Pro and iMac), both opened CR2-files pretty fast before updating to Mavericks, and both are very slow now while they trying to open them via QuickView and Preview.app
It's impossible to work this photos now. Please, Apple, fix it as soon as possible.

Sorry I don't have a solution, but it seems to be a general problem with raw files. The same thing is happening with Nikon NEF files which has been reported to Apple.

I'm facing the same problem, quick look takes ages now! plus Photoshop (CS6) is lagging.
I'm running 10.9 on rMBP 2012 base model.
It's impossible to edit files now! I hate the new safari look and I think I'm reverting back to osx 10.8. or should i wait? what are you guys doing?
