Hi Lawrence - I understand your position, but it is so hard to believe that a couple of hundreds iPhone were manufactured with a deffective chip?

Let´s say, if Coca Cola poison 1,000 bottles of a certain delivery truck and many people got sick because of that, as millions of people drink Coke all over the world and they do not show any sympton, the conclusion is that it must be a health problem of each person and Coca Cola has no responsability?

Here we are talking about a fact (iOS upgrade) and similar problem (WiFi) of many people, not two guys from Argentina and Spain complaining about their phones....

Anyway, I do not want to enter into any discussion, I am waiting to see what Apple does or does not next month. And relax! it is only money, wasted or not

nice...If you paid for the phone by credit card, a lot of cards double the manufaturers warranty. Lets see how upset the credit card companies get when they have to start paying for new iphones. They have the $$ to get something done and noticed. We are just the little guys who can't fight the big battle I guess.

And some credit card companies have automatic loss/damage protection for your purchases.  They don't complain too much when a customer submits a claim. They just either approve it or deny it.  The credit card companies aren't going to pressure Apple.

Someone posted somewhere on here that an "Apple representative said 2% of about 50 million iPhone S4s throughout the world might be affected." OK, a million phones @ an average of $300 per phone (depedding on the GB)...$300 million. Say it is only 1/4 of that amount it's still $75 million. Shall I go on?  Cut it again by 1/4...almost $19 million. That's a lot of $$ someone is going to want back, either the credit card companies or their insurance covering the cost. You think that even if it is as small as $1 million, someone else ios going to eat the cost for them?

You are a life saver. Ive had my phone replaced i have tried everything else with my router ive tried all the resets restore from back up etc and that one little thing for a netgeat router and it worked instantly. I was cracking up ready to break away from all this. But as many others have said it started directly after the last update and worked perfects with out porblems before that.

I didn't read through every page but I just noticed and read that unless you are plugged in the wifi shuts down and cellular data turns on when the phone goes to sleep. This is b/s, period. My data has increased this month (I just got a 5s) because of this. I should have to go and turn of data when on wifi. If wifi is available the phone should stay on it regardless of the phone status, awake or sleep. My phone has wasted 1-2gb of data because of this.

I am at home on wifi and I just checked my cellular data. It went up. This is B/S. Thanks a lot apple.

Apple provides a setting on the iPhone that allows you to turn Cellular Data on or off.

WiFi shuts down because, unlike cellular data, WiFi uses power continuously, whether data are being transferred or not. This has nothing to do with the iPhone; it is the way the protocol specification is written. So if WiFi stayed on when the phone was asleep your battery would be dead by morning. Then you would be crying "This is B/S. Why is my iPhone using battery when its off?"

And, I'm not sure why plugging in your iPhone to let it charge overnight, while you're sleeping, is such an inconvenience.

  • Pursuit2550 Level 1 Level 1 (0 points)

I know there is a cellular data switch. But why should I have to worry about cell data when I am on wifi. I put my phone to charge every night so I don't care if wifi use up battery. I care more about my data usage than my battery. Like I said I put it to charge overnight. So this means if I have push notifications on FB, twitter, etc and the phone goes to sleep I FORCED, by apple, to receive the notifications over cell data when I am on wifi. Why? Oh that's right because apple is so locked down that you have to do things their way, B/S.

Started to do some research on Samsungs and Motos... :-(

This is what happened to my iPhone 4S

I went to an Apple Store in USA, they check the WiFi and they couldn´t get it to work, so the alternatives they offered were to replace the phone for a similar one at U$S 220 or try to call Apple and claim for the 2-Year extention warranty of Europe (my iPhone was bought in Spain).

I did call Apple and after a few days -and a cool Supervisor in Apple that took my case- my iPhone 4S was replaced for free.

But something odd happened in the meantime. When I was expecting an answer from Apple about the replacement, a guy from a store call CellFix did "something" to my iPhone (reset the antenna, or something like that) and the WiFi was working for a whole day!!! Take into account that "genius" guys from the Apple Store could not put it to work before.

Was a iOS7 problem that damaged something? Hmm it is still not clear for me yet.

But to be fair. Apple did solve my problem.

Hope all of you guys have the same luck that I got and get your iPhone working properly again!

    Regards,

    Ariel

After 1 month of having a REPLACED iPhone 4S, it happens again!!!! WiFi grayed

Amd when I contact Apple via chat, the operator told me that is a known problem, that she was sorry that I have to suffer it twice and why don´t I buy a model 5S, which does not have this problem!!!!

So... what was that? is not a iOS problem? is it a HW problem and I have a very bad luck?

No solution my friends. Have it replaced for ANOTHER 4S and just sit and wait?
