Slideshow Music doesn't play in iPhoto 9.5 and Mavericks 10.9

You know what most everyone will say if you're a Mac user don't you?

But it says it makes copies of all media files, doesnt this mean that it will take some storage space?

I have the same problem of no music available in Iphoto from Itunes. However, I have already organized my library and no longer have the option mentioned.

Any other solutions or ideas as to why I still cannot use any music in Iphoto?

I hsd this problem when I upgraded to Maverick.

I'm with Vodvill on this one. I did the organize trick, have the same software as amayored and still cannot get my playlist to play with a slideshow.

Has anyone conquered this problem another way?

I spent nearly 3 hours on the phone with Apple Support yesterday and here is the solution we found.

The first realization was that this was an issue with the Itunes Library under my user account. When we opened up a new user and created a new library the problem did not exist.

So, back in my user account, we first exported my playlists xml file. File>Library>Export Playlist

Then we reopened Itunes wtih the Option key pressed and this gave me the choice to creat a new Library. which i did.

The Library opened up and automatically synced with my Icloud tunes but did not import my movies and music that I had gotten outside of the Itunes store. This was done by going to the old Itune Libary folder in the Music folder and importing the file Itunes Media. I just dragged and dropped the whole thing onto the sidebar of Itunes. Importing this took a while but after it was done I imported the Playlist.xml file and had my old Library restored.

The tunes now play in Iphoto.

So that means if I would like to keep my own media structure within the iTunes folder, iPhoto will not be able to play any song, even if they are all on the same mac? I do not use the "organize" feature and my songs will not play. Anyone with a different solution besides using that "organzing" feature?

I still can't seem to get this to work my the reorganize library option is greyed out. which does not let me try that option

I have read the posts here but I don't understand exactly what to do. My slideshows I created with music and the special slideshow of my 93 year old mother's voice (who is not with me now) are not playing any sound at all. The music is still listed but doesn't play. I see that I should go to ITunes and reorganize? Does that mean that I start over with putting in the music and voice, figuring out the fade in -outs etc.? I am learning to work with the slideshow, but don't play with it often enough to be good at it or even proficient. So the slideshows I have, took me weeks to put together, I hate to think that I have to start over with the music. On the same note I am using Mavericks but I'm going to update to Yosemite. Should I "fix" the slideshows now or after I update????? I appreciate your patience in helping me with this issue. Can I back up my slideshows on a flash drive or sd card? A frustrated Grammy Apple
