Printer Canon IR1025 / IRC1030 doesn't print after installing OS X Mavericks

Hello,

I've upgraded my MacBook Pro with OS X Mavericks, and then i couldn't print with my various printers Canon imageRUNNER 1023iF, Canon imageRUNNER 1025iF, Canon imageRUNNER 1030iF

When I try to print the following dialogue box appears:

------------------------------------------------

Canon UFR II Printer Driver

Open error.

Switch the printer off and on, and then start the print

job again.: 16013

OK

------------------------------------------------

I follow the instructions, but it doesn't solve the issue.

Any suggestions?

Download and install the UFR2 v10.2.0 driver for OS X 10.9

http://support-au.canon.com.au/contents/AU/EN/0100491502.html

Then remove the current printer from Printers and Scanners and create a new printer. Note that when you select the respective Canon model in the USE menu, the new v10.2 driver lists the models without UFRII in the name. So for example, for the iR1025iF, ensure you select the entry that shows Canon iR1025iF. The entry that shows Canon iR1025iF UFRII will be for the older driver.

Hello PAHU,

Thanks for the help.

The driver work fine with the following models: Canon ImageRunner 1023iF and Canon ImageRunner 1025iF

But with the Canon ImageRunner C1030iF isn't printing. The laptop sends the work and the printer receives it, but in the status monitor of the printer says in the registry of the print that the error #853 ocurred.

Any suggestions?

The #853 error indicates a print job contained data the iR did not understand. This can happen when you send Postscript print job to a machine without a Postscript kit. So double check which printer driver you used. If you open Printers & Scanners and select the iRC1030 and then click on Options & Supplies, under the General tab you will see Driver Version. This needs to be 10.2.0. If it is something else then you have selected the wrong driver when creating the printer queue.

If you are definitely using the UFR2 v10.2.0 driver then my other thought is that this iRC1030 does not have the UFR2 print kit. In most regions, UFR2 is a standard inclusion. But there is a chance that is not the case for your region. So you need to check what print options the machine has. Now I don't know this model - we don't have it in Australia - so I am unsure of where or how exactly you can confirm this. You may be able to open the machines internal web page by entering its IP address into a web browser. Via one of the menus you could then see what print kits are installed.

If you have no luck finding what kit is installed then one test you can do is create a new print queue using the LPD protocol and selecting the Generic Postscript driver included with OS X. Then send a simple text document to the machine and see if it prints. If it does, then it confirms that the iRC1030 has the Postscript kit installed so you can then use the Canon PS v4.00 driver which is also compatible with OS X 10.9. I have provided a link to that driver below.

Hi Jeremy,

You don't need either of those processes. They belong to the previous version of UFR2 driver.

To stop them, open Finder and select Go > Go to Folder. Then enter the following path (or copy and paste it)

/Library/LaunchAgents

and press Return.

Here you will see two Canon files; "jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist" and "jp.co.canon.CMFP.BG.plist". Trash both of these files, then logout and log back in. Now you will not have either service running.

You could also trash the UFR2 and CMFP folders located in /Library/Printers/Canon

Hello PAHU,

I have tried with the Generic Postscript drive with no avail. I doesn't send the work (checked in the status menu from the printer).

And with the other option, I have selected the right model of the printer, with the new driver from Canon, and then the error from my previous post appears in the status menu from the printer.

Thanks for the help, if you have any suggestions, I would really apreciate it.

And another suggestion.

Open Printers & Scanners and select the iRC1030. Then click on Options & Supplies and select the Utilities tab. Click on Open Printer Utility. This will open the Canon Office Printer Utility application. Here you will see a button labelled Printer Information. Click this. You should now get the Printer Information window appearing showing the configuration of the iRC1030. Did this work and is it showing the correct information?

Hello PAHU,

I'm printing from all the PC's from the office (windows os). I don't know if it's the UFR2 driver.

From the Mac's, I can't print because all of them are now upgrade with Mavericks OS. With no avail printing with the UFR2 driver or the newest version.

When accessing the printer information, it shows the correct information. Attach is the image.

Thanks for the images. It shows that you have Dept ID enabled. On the window behind the Printer Information windows that has the Department ID Management settings I can see that you have an ID of 15 and a password set. If you press the Verify button under section, do you get a confirmation that the ID/Pwd are correct?

If they are verified as correct, if you then enable the "Confirm Dept ID/PIN when Printing" setting, then when you do print you should get a pop-up that allows you to confirm that the Dept ID/PIN is being used. Can you see if this lets the Mac's print again.
