Bonjour between two notebooks

I have two notebooks. PB15 1.25 and MBP 17". I have read with interest how EASY it is to share files between two computers with Bonjour but despite my best efforts niether computer can see the other. I am led to believe that all one has to do is search for the other computer using Safari. Can anyone lead me thru this EASY process ?

Both are running 10.4.6

Don't know about Bonjur, but the way I know is to use the Finder's menu... Go>Connect to Server... then type in either the Name of the other comuter, or the actual IP, then enter the User name and Password.

That gets you yo a Shared Folder, but if you want complete access to the other on, just sign in as the Admin of the other machine, and use the Admin's PW.

Thanks BDAqua,

That is my current method. I moved to Mac for the simplicity and always like to show that off to the Windose mugs. The Apple site would have us believe that Bonjour is simply connecting effortsly thru our browser and two guys in a hotel hallway are now connected. Well I'd like to see it.

"The computers and devices take over from there, automatically broadcasting and discovering what services each is offering for the use of others. The network could be as simple as two AirPort Extreme-equipped PowerBook users sitting in a hotel meeting room miles from the nearest AirPort Extreme Base Station with some large files they need to share. Before Bonjour, frustration. With Bonjour, your computer will discover others, making file sharing completely simple."

Oh really!

Any takers?

That is all true. It just needs software developers (like myself) to create applications that use Bonjour to make these effortless connections.

Currently, there aren't too many applications that can use Bonjour. Safari displays any web servers running Bonjour in its bookmark bar, but there usually aren't any around.

I'm currently working on a new program that should be exactly what you are looking for. It won't be ready for a few months though.

Philippine Swing, Me too?! I'm going to need this capability here really soon. If it's not there, I guess I'll just have to award the contract to Dell or Gateway.

Now Bonjour worked great for my HP 3310 All-in-One Printer/Scanner and my FW800. But for anything such as you're talking about, I have yet to see it. Matter of fact I loaded Bonjour on a PC to see what would happen and couldn't get a lock. Then HP software totally ignored it and did it's own thing via TCP/IP/Wi-Fi that is much better than Bonjour.

So . . . . another Apple cart before the horse.
