Q: Advanced typographical features not working in Keynote 6

It seems that the advanced typographical features (that you have access too via the font chooser) are not working in the iWork apps (I concentrate on Keynote for this post but it happens in all of them). I’m talking about things like ligatures and old style numbers.

This seems to neither work in Keynote Files created in Keynote 5.3 and then opened in Keynote 6.0 nor in freshly created Keynote 6.0 files.

It doesn’t seem to be a Mavericks problem either since these features work in TextEdit.

See attached image for an example.

The top is how it’s supposed to look (in this case a Keynote 5.3 file) and the bottom in how that file looks in Keynote 6.0.

Any ideas?

I'd like to piggyback on this question. I am specifically concerned simply with ligatures as in fi, ff, fl, which are working in the El Capitan version of Pages, but not in the El Cap Keynote. I've tried turning them on in each of the various menus where it is possible to do so.

It's usually best not to piggyback on questions from 3 years ago, better to ask a new one, the OS version is a few numbers higher, etc.

What font are you trying to use?  Not all have ligatures.  Format > Font > Ligature > Use All  seems to work for me with Calibri for example:
