Can't sync podcasts ios7.0.3 - terrible

Just got my 5S with iOS 7.0.3 and I can't sync a single podcast.

I'm using Windows 7 Pro, iTunes 11.1.1.11, Podcast App 2.0

I have a large quantity of downloaded podcasts that I've been syncing for years

with iPods, iPhones, and iPads - everything has worked perfectly until now.

I do not sync/download podcasts from within an app - I have a separate

program on my PC to download and manage them.

I do not subscribe to Podcasts via my Apple products or iTunes because my wife and I share

our libraries.

(Meaning using an alternative app like Downcast will not work as it cannot sync existing podcasts via iTunes)

No matter what I do, as long as Podcasts are of Kind "Podcast", they won't sync.

I've tried:

1) Uninstalling/reinstalling the Podcast App multiple times

2) Syncing podcasts 'Automatically' with every option - 'all', 'all unplayed', 'recent unplayed', etc, etc

3) 'Include Episodes from Playlists'

4) and more.

After syncing, I've noticed in iTunes, under my Device, I can see all the podcasts in either the 'Podcast' link or the various Playlists (depending on what I've tried)

However, the Podcast App on the iPhone simply will not show them - as groups, or playlists, or anything.

The most I've ever gotten is a single Podcast mislabeled and with the wrong Artwork.

If I change all my Podcasts to Kind "Music" (or 'Audiobook') then I can get them into the Music player, but then I lose all my storage organization in iTunes - the 'Podcast' Library item becomes useless.

I've been an Apple user since the Apple II so I'm no nubie.

This is the worst junk Apple has ever turned out - whoever worked on it should be fired immediately - and I mean coders, managers, directors - all of them.

All I want to do is sync Podcasts from my PC library to my BRAND NEW EXPENSIVE iPhone the same way I can with music.

Does anyone have any ideas what else to do?

Kuranda, I have done something similar and had "homemade" podcasts transfer over to my devices - only problem was that they disappeared when I resynced. Good luck that that doesn't happen to you!

I sincerely believe it is a Podcasts 2.0 problem and not an iTunes problem, as iTunes still allows for the creation and playback of these files. I have sent Apple an incident report - or whatever they're called. I would encourage you all to do the same...

I was having the same problem, but after having a different problem with my iPad and finding that reseting the iPad (no data loss) fixed it, I tried the same solution on the iPhone. After, I tried to sync again, and PRESTO!

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

Given that this was the solve for two different problems, I suspect a device reset is the answer to most seemingly unanswerable issues.

Reset (hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds) not work for me. I have reset three times and no difference.

However, I find that I can use spotlight to serach for those missing podcasts and listen. Althrough the title and album information is wrongly display as other podcast (which shouldn't present in my iPhone), at least it can play. It "just" works!

I deleted everything in order to start afresh. Nothing showed on either iOS device, Mac or Apple TV.

After a few hours I tried again and it remembered loads of settings/subscriptions but still managed to make a complete hash of setting things up. My intervention hasn't helped at all.

This truly is a "MobileMe" for the post-Jobs era. How difficult can it be for Apple's talented engineers to build something that syncs play progress and subscriptions across all platforms? They own all those platforms! That is one of Apple's unique selling points!!

I trust that one day it will work, but will not hold my breath.

Not only does it not sync podcasts, it won't let me add new music. So now I can't add my Christmas music to my iphone to play in my car!

I have reset my device (and lost a bunch of stuff because it kept backing up to the reset, it was awful) and it worked till this newest update. Now it won't sync again and I am not willing to reset my deivce, again. So frustrating!!

I've tried for weeks to sync my downloaded podcasts from iTunes to ipad via usb (too many to download via cloud, etc.) iTunes would freeze whenever I selected Podcasts in sync menu. Solution: Update podcasts in iTunes as usual, then disable internet connection on pc Worked like a charm. Podcasts appear in menu and I was able to update to my ipad like before.
