iMovie 10.0 update: RED SCREEN Flicker on Old Projects!! HELP!!

I updated to 10.0, the latest version of iMovie, yesterday...

In the previous version, there have been movies I've worked months on. MONTHS.

I open up iMovie and a window pops up, telling me that I have to "update" my projects. I accept.

Then everything gets messed up. The five projects that I haven't finished yet have a constant, annoying red flicker over each video that was "updated". The text in it flickers slightly, but every blank page or still picture doesn't get affected.

Everything is ruined. I try exporting each of my projects and yet all of the movies still have the red flicker. I try re-installing the previous version, but the flicker is still there. It seems all of my projects have been permanetley affected.

I'm not sure if this is just a rare case. All of my movies contained MP4 files/ no extra encoding. They all were recorded with my phone. No one else online seems to be having this problem.

Is there anyway to save my old projects? 😟

I scoured the internet, I even tried pressing the enhance button twice, but nothing helped...

I even tried calling Apple support. He told me "that's a unfortunate bug...there's nothing I can do...just...backup the footage and start over."

That wasn't a liable option either. It seems as the upgrade has also infected the original clip themselves.

(I have it so it moves clips into the iMovie libary rather than copying them)

I had to say goodbye to my movies...and so I did. Deleted all of my projects.

...*sigh*
