Apr 8, 2015 1:05 PM in response to cam.rex.03by Terence Devlin,No, Apple aren't here. Read the terms if use you agreed to when you signed up. It explains what this is and what it's for.
After that, make a new thread with a full description of your issue, including the version of iPhoto and the OS.

Apr 8, 2015 1:11 PM in response to Terence Devlinby cam.rex.03,No kidding, really?
It was rhetorical. I'm only trying to draw attention to the issue at hand, which is the identical one that I'm having. No need to start a new thread, is there?

Apr 8, 2015 1:19 PM in response to cam.rex.03by Terence Devlin,Well there's nothing like the nth post on the fifth page of an 18 month old thread about a discontinued app to draw attention to something. Should really help. My mistake, I thought you might want help.

Apr 8, 2015 2:09 PM in response to Terence Devlinby cam.rex.03,Alright Terence, since you're the expert here: will upgrading (if you could call it that) to Photos allow me to export my photos without the same problem here with iPhoto?

Apr 8, 2015 4:11 PM in response to cam.rex.03by Terence Devlin,Unlikely. But with no details it's hard to know. But if you're library is corrupted then migrating to a new library is likely to go badly.

Apr 10, 2015 5:35 AM in response to Terence Devlinby suisse2k,Using Aperature, I could export the movie without issues.
And very special.... using Photos for OSX also works without issues.

May 7, 2015 3:44 AM in response to psmythby othmark,Thanks for the tip. I successfully exported all my 1700 videos using Aperture. Now I have enough space to upgrade iPhoto to Photo.

Jul 12, 2015 6:35 PM in response to LarryHNby seanfromminato-ku,Larry HN is right. While having an AVI (or MPG) option in the export window would have been more intuitive to some (myself included), changing the Kind from the default of JPG to "original" will achieve the exact desired results.

Aug 20, 2015 10:29 AM in response to pcollins12by Sneedly,Thanks for writing this. I used this (after some minor tweaks) to export around 2500 videos from their iPhoto events into the associated event folders that already had the pictures exported. Saved me tons of manual effort.

Oct 29, 2015 4:15 PM in response to Old Toadby DixieCannonballs,I did as you suggested, and used the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to rebuild my library. iPLM creates a new library called "Default Library (rebuilt)," and everything seems to work like a charm. When I reopen iPhoto using the rebuilt library, all of my videos show the proper thumbnails, and export perfectly.
But there seems to be glitch. If after rebuilding, I then delete the old (now duplicate) Default Library, iPhoto goes right back to giving the error message on export of videos. This leaves me with two copies of my 60GB iPhoto Library, and no way to delete the old one to regain the space.
I have repeated this process several times, and can confirm that it happens consistently. I emailed the developer about this issue a couple days ago, and have yet to receive a reply.
I am running iPhoto 9.6.1 on OS X 10.11.1 on a recently-upgraded Early 2011 13" MacBook Pro with a 500 GB SSD and 16GB of RAM. This issue popped up immediately after the OS and hardware update. I migrated from OS X Mountain Lion and the latest version of iPhoto available for that OS.
At the moment, I seem to be stuck with having to keep two copies of my library, and having to eat 60GB of disk space.
Any ideas? I wish the developer of iPhoto Library Manager would respond. They seem to offer support only via email. Very frustrating. Any help you or other users of this forum could offer would be very helpful.

Oct 30, 2015 1:09 AM in response to DixieCannonballsby Terence Devlin,Are you running a Managed or a Referenced Library?
A Managed Library, is the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing. The files are then stored in the Library package
A Referenced Library is when iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing because you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced. (You unchecked the option to copy files into the Library on import) The files are then stored where ever you put them and not in the Library package. In this scenario you are responsible for the File Management.

Oct 30, 2015 5:57 AM in response to Terence Devlinby DixieCannonballs,Hi, thanks for the reply. It's a Managed Library. I did finally receive an email from FatCat lat night, and they have someone looking into it. I do hope that a solution is found. I would really like to be able to reclaim the space being used by the old library without breaking the new one, as I have been making extensive edits to my events and albums.

Dec 31, 2015 10:39 PM in response to Terence Devlinby katniss_elfgreen,I feel your pain man..I tried a lot of stuff and wasted a lot of time and finally found a really simple solution that slapped me right in the face
Instead of using the Edit>Export Function, simply go to the video you want to export and drag it from iPhoto to the folder in Finder. This bypasses the bug in iPhoto that looks for the video in the previews section when it should be really looking in the Masters.
dang I feel like twisting myself dry, but Im just thankful that I found a solution.

Aug 7, 2016 11:04 AM in response to Eric Eriksonby tech.whiz,I struggled it with it even with the latest OSX El Captain version 10.11.6, as I was trying to export everything from iPhoto to Amazon Photos, without any success specially for videos.
Then I tried something at the terminal.
cd "iPhoto Library.photolibrary/Masters"
find . -print | grep -i -e '.*/.*[.]mov*' -e '.*/.*[.]mpg*' -e '.*/.*[.]mp4*'| while read line
do
cp $line ~/Videos/
done
I was able to export all the videos (over 1000 of them) to the target directory and then uploaded these to Amazon.
