Nov 6, 2013 8:25 AM in response to BFOSSENby mspeters,I called Apple assistance. They made me add my internal hard drive to spotlight confidentiality tab, remove my time machine external drive and wait. Then, I removed my hard drive from the confidentiality tab, added my external drive and my external sd card. Now, it gives the impression that the indexation is being done normally. I'll see within about 5 hours before it's finished. I'll keep you posted.

Oct 8, 2015 9:38 PM in response to BFOSSENby userremoved,Count me in. About 2 hours or so after I upgraded my MacBook Air (11" 128GB SSD 2GB RAM intel core i5 mid 2011 model) to Mavericks, that was when I noticed the problem. Apparently I think my MacBook Air's problem is worse than most of you, apparently I've got only 164 cycles on it
I called Apple yesterday (halfway when I was outdoors) and they weren't exactly very helpful, they were very insistent on getting my full name (as per my NRIC) and all my particulars before they could give me any further advice. I'm now kind of ****** with their service already.
I have a 13" MacBook Pro (320GB HDD intel core i5 4GB RAM early 2011 model) which was also upgraded to Mavericks, and it does not seem to have any problems at all.
I seriously hope that Apple takes our complaints seriously and does something about this.

Nov 7, 2013 12:53 AM in response to BFOSSENby Deano9512,I have have this problem and spent ages on the phone and visiting a mac store only to be told to keep an eye on the activity monitor to see what is draining it and believe me there is nothing because the problem was still there when we reinstalled the OS and NO! applications were installed, just Mavericks. So now I wait for an update or go back to Moutain lion.

Nov 7, 2013 7:34 AM in response to BFOSSENby Schroedinger,I don't mind so much loosing some run time on battery, the thing that really bothers me is that I now lost 200mAh on full charge capacity over the last 4 days without unplugging from power supply and only having a cycle count of 56!!!
this is a major problem not just a small bug.
also re posted a bug report, let's get so much attention of the apple engeniers as possible to get this solved and our battery life back...

Nov 7, 2013 7:48 PM in response to erickpere2by erickpere2,I've been *recalibrating* my battery for about a week now and seen some improvement. November 1 my max charge was 4022mAh and now its 4304mAh "Service Battery" warning is gone but I suspect it will return I'll keep you guys updated.
*let my battery drain until it shuts off and powered on AFTER it charged 100%*

Nov 7, 2013 8:49 PM in response to BFOSSENby Julie Checkoway,Same here. Boy, it's frustrating. This thread, though, has made a lot of sense to me; my battery drains very quickly after I installed Mavericks (can't wait for an update on that) on my Macbook Air, and I got the service message. I ran the hardware diagnostics and chatted with apple support, and at the time they had zero clue this was an across-the-board flaw with Mavericks and wanted to send me in to get the battery fixed. My battery is still at 255 cycles, so well under 1000. Do you think I have to take it in for a fix or wait for a software fix? Is anyone else have trouble with their trackpad all of a sudden, too?

Nov 7, 2013 11:37 PM in response to BFOSSENby r0bcast,Also seeing the Service Battery warning and experiencing severe loss in battery capacity compared to three weeks ago when I was able to work off my Early 2011 13" MBP for approximately 4 to 5 hours from a complete charge. Now, I cannot get more than 20 minutes of work from a complete charge.
I currently have a battery cycle count of 98, and a full charge capacity of 402 mAh.
Very disappointed, and not sure what to do!
