This problem just started yesterday. I'm not sure if it was caused by the maverick update. Is anyone else having this issue or know how to correct it? Thanks.
MacBook Air (13-inch Mid 2012)
I have a mid 2010 MBP with the same symptoms with both the built in trackpad and the Apple bluetooth track pad. The problem started happening after I installed OS 10.9.
Same problem here. I have a mid 2011 MBA. I think I remember this happening in Mountain Lion but it was very sporadic. Now it is almost constant and rather irritating.
This is happening to me too. I have a new Macbook Pro and my mouse pad is doing some weird things. It automatically zooms in, clicks on random things. It seems even typing this without touching the trackpad is causing it to respond oddly. My computer has zoomed in on this area of the screen about 7 times while I type this. Overall I am disappointed with this update.
FIX THIS FOR THE LOVE OF EVERYTHING HOLY AND PURE!
Turn off "Tap to Click" to see if that fixes the problem.
I have a bad battery and it fixed the problem.

I also had this problem. I solved it by calling apple care and they walked me through updating a few things and getting my system reset.
Can you explain how Apple helped you fix the problem for those of us who's apple care has run out and can't get it? I have a 2008 MBP which I love, and did the Mavericks upgrade yesterday and this happened almost immediately afterwards - the next day.
I have the late 2008 unibody MB, and here's how I solved my issue: I did the SMC reset. I took out my battery for a several hours (when I left for work). With the battery out, plug the computer in and turn it back on.
My battery is bad (Replace Now message appears), so that may be the issue. I ordered a new one from Amazon.
I checked my firmware and it is up-to-date.

Cannot claim this is a fix. But for a while it seems to have quelled the sticky cursor:
System Prefs/Accessibiity/Mouse & Trackpad/Trackpad Options/
I then checked Enable dragging without Drag Lock.
Forget this suggestion. For a while things worked just fine. An hour later....actualliy worse.
The replacement battery is fine. No need to spend an extra $60 for an Apple battery.
OMG! I'm so, relieved? by hearing I'm not the only one, I thought maybe some virus or whatever, please APPLE fix it soon! I just pluged a mouse and has been helpfull... feel like in my old windows 😝
The trackpad on my MacBook Air is acting erratic. It highlights everything when I scroll or clicks on random links. It also keeps dragging photos across the screen. I've had my Mac for about seven months. Does any know how to correct this issue?
