Multiple display between MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.

I have a MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, and I like using multiple computers when I do my homework. Can I connect these two and share the display with the new Maverick update, and what cable should I use? Can I use the thunderbolt to thunderbolt cable?
