Apogee Duet (1) not working on Mavericks

I had been on Snow Leopard and Duet worked fine. Upgraded to Mavericks, now it does not.

I plug it in initially (after reboot) and sound comes through the Duet. If I touch any volume control, the sound cuts out. In Maestro, the controls are all very finnecky, can't select any options. If I unplug and replug, still no sound comes through. Assuming it's a problem with Maestro compatability, but I've heard that Mavericks isn't really playing nicely with other non-apple hardware either. Suggestions?

Have you checked with the Apogee folks? Perhaps they have updated drivers?

I just want to comment and say that all the problems that have been described here applied for me ever since Lion came out. Usually if I start getting the crack popples I just unplug and plug back in. It really stinks. I love the sound quality of the Duet so I will keep using it. If you spend anytime on the GearSlutz forum (huge home recording forum) you will see that people have these types of problems with almost all cosumer grade interfaces.

Hi Rob,

Thank you for your suggestion, but I have unistalled and reinstalled the Duet software multiple times and I am still having issues. Audio is dropping out and distorting no matter what I am doing on the computer. I remember having these same problems with Lion when it first came out. A patch eventually came out that fixed the problem. I hope that will be the case here too.

As long as both companies know that there are issues with compatibility, they will hopefully work to resolve any issues.

Unfotunately this issue seemes to be larger than Apogee. This problem you are describing is effecting all third party audio products that utilize CoreAudio. The FusionDrive does not seem to be the issue either, it is something specific between the Haswell chip architecture and Apple's CoreAudio Driver. Hopefully Apple will have a CoreAudio patch to fix the problem.

Same problem for me.. My Apogee One pops and clicks on and off, then finally dies completely.

Also just bought a new iMac. The strange thing is that I used it for a week and had no issues, then two days ago it started making these noises..

Hello, everyone.

I have got the newest firmware flashed and newest driver installed with my duet (for iPad & Mac) last night.

Then it seems better, but my duet could still get offline (needs plug-out and plug-in again) in several occasions.

I have confirmed that one of those occasions definetely is watching heavy-videos with Google Chrome's built-in Flash Player. (Safari and FireFox (UX 64-bit edition) with newest Official-distributed Flash Player tested, nothing bloody happens)

P.S.: My laptop is retinalized MacBook Pro 15-inch (no discrete graphics) late 2013,

with OS X Mavericks 13A3017 (not the Mac-AppStore version) installed.

I have been having this issue (crackly/distorted recording) with a new late 2013 iMac since it arrived a few weeks ago. I was originally using a Samson G-Track mic and today having failed to fix the issue (or find this thread until now!) I bought a new Shure PG-42 USB mic, and sure enough, the issue still occurs. I'm pretty sure it's a Mavericks issue, and not specific to a brand of mic. Fingers crossed for a fix from Apple soon.

Tested last night and found the same issues as noted in the past posts. Confirmed that both Mavericks and Maestro are running on the latest updates, but problems still exist. I was able to reset and correct the issue by swithing the clock setting in Maestro from 44.1 to to any other samp freq, then back to 44.1 and the problem went away. Not sure if this is a Mavericks issue or not but I never had this issue until Mavericks.
