I just spent the last hour with this big *** headache and found a solution, uninstall every Apple software on your computer through the Control Panel, this includes Bonjour, Apple Update, Apple Software pdate for 32 and 64 bit, Quicktime, and iTunes. Restart then reinstall iTunes (preferably an older version to test). Honestly all of this software will reinstall by itself after you install iTunes again so it's all good.

I know this post is outdated, but I'll leave this right here for anybody with the same problem who needs something new to try for a solution.
