Apple has decided by all us which is better to use the iCloud. It is not as close to a dictatorship? Why not leave the option to sync via USB? So everyone is happy and Apple will continue to be my idol.

But the power is stronger and the need for raw material for stronger companies: our data.

You can use any service you choose to, iCloud is just one option.

    Pick one.

There are always options to continue working (all that you say). But Apple has decided to remove this option and break the bond of people and technology for everyone. Apple should include all options. What is meant when a technology does not unite people?

You better think globally, we are all together and we need technologies that unite us. I think people who do not have all the facilities.

For everyone? Where did you get those 'extreme' figures from. FYI there are currently over 320 million iCloud users. Don't they count in your everyone?

I would like to sync via floppy disk. I hope they include this option as well as usb2 that you would like returned.

    Well, sure, Pete.

Except Apple never had sync from floppies, but it did sync via USB just a few weeks ago and our hardware hasn't changed.

And nobody is saying to drop iCloud users. This wasn't an "either/or" situation for users; Apple chose to make it that way.

    See the difference?

Of course you do, that's not the reason you posted, is it.

No, nobody can answer the question except Apple. Contact them and ask why they removed USB sync for contacts and Callanders. Everybody here is guessing, speculating etc. and no one can answer it.

Not everyone is guessing and speculating, Pete.

Well then here's a short factual answer.

Local sync with the iTunes client on a Mac is no longer supported (Calendars & Contacts) for IOS devices. 10.9 and greater.

I'm not sure if it will do any good but I gave Apple this feedback.

I have an iMac, iPad, iPhone and an iPod touch. I do not want all the same information on all my devices. When I am connecting my devices to my iMac the option of what I want on that particular device is gone. I had control with the "Info" TAB. Now I have content on devices that I don't want and don't know how to get rid of the content and visa versa I can't get some content on other devices.

So, is it possible to go back to the older OS? Like most of you, I have no plan or desire to have any data on iCloud. It is hard enough for me to keep track on ifoot...... never mind iCloud!

Today I needed to transter contacts from an old 3G to a 4S  under Mavericks and I realised the info tab was missing.

Well it is possible to do it with the USB cable and the computer  and this is how.

Back up both phones first for safety.

1.To start the transfer procedure, connect the phone  with the data

2.Under the 'summary' tab 'about half way down the page on the left choose 'back up to this computer'.

(I recommend you use the setting 'encrypt phone back up' because that will restore your passwords so you won't have to enter them again.)

3.When that is finished disconnect and connect the new/second phone- the one you want to put the data on.

4.Under the summary tab again look for  'manually back up and restore' on the right,  choose 'restore from backup'.

IMPORTANT: this is a manual restore found about half way down the page not the 'restore iphone' button near the top of the page near the iphone picture.

6.You'll get a drop down list of backups. Make sure you choose the one you just made.  It should have the date somewhere underneath it.

That is, the one you made for the other phone of course- the one with the data on  you want to transfer.

That's it. It will do its usual thing and if you try to eject it, it will tell you it is synching just like when you synched with the info tab.

If you haven't used the encrypt setting you will have to input your wifi access code. before you get back to the home screen.

It will only restore contacts calender messages and data, not the OS. It will transfer the photos.

If it goes wrong for some reason, go back to the safety backup you made at the start.

All you apps,  etc will pop up exactly where they were, your home screen wallpaper will stay the same (although my lock screen wallpaper  changed)  but all the messages and contacts and photos  will be transferred. I havent checked game data as it's my son's phone but it might be.

Similarly, I'm not sure about the music but as the 3g wasn't connected to the cloud ever, the music looks to be that of the 4S

I can't tell you about calender either. The 3G certainly never used it.  What I can say is the calender has no events now so maybe it does transfer as I suspect there were some on my wife's 4S.

    Hope that helps.

Can you point us to a post which details facts as to why Apple decided to remove it?, Nobody can answer why the feature was removed except Apple. If this works and I can avoid using iCloud - then I will use it and this might be the start of my migration away from Apple laptop hardware.....

Hallelujah!  And there was much rejoicing!!  Am glad to see the info tab back and have now synced my contacts and calendar on my iPhone directly from my Mac.  Imagine that!!!
