It will be a replacement. The way this works is you send your phone in. Apple verifies that it's a problem covered under warranty. They ship you a replacement. Then, if possible, they repair the phone you sent, refurbish it to factory specs and it becomes a replacement unit. This means you get a replacement in days instead of weeks.

Best of luck.

A few months have passed since your post. Can you confirm what you were sent? Was it a refurbished replacement or your original phone after a repair had been performed?

Apple doesn't send back the original phone. The phone you receive is generally refurbished, though, in rare instances, may be new. You would not be able to tell the difference, however.

Hi,

I received the iPhone in a small parcel. Upon opening the box I realised the iPhone I had sent to Apple had been sent back to me repaired, but only the home button was fixed and the microphone problem wasn't fixed. Upon noticing this I went to a Apple Authorised Service Centre which on the same day they replaced it with a brand new one.
