Mavericks issue with airplay mirroring to apple tv

I have found after upgrading to mavericks that airplay mirroring to Apple TV 3rd Gen keeps losing the connection. It will mirror my mac for a few seconds then stall and then disconnect. Anyone having a similar problem? I've upgraded firmware on apple tv but to no avail

Hello double_edge,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

For more information on this, take a look at:

Troubleshooting AirPlay and AirPlay Mirroring

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5209

  • Ensure that other devices aren't trying to stream to the same Apple TV at the same time.
  • Ensure that your Wi-Fi router is set up with the recommended settings for the best performance.
  • Certain external devices, such as microwave ovens and baby monitors, may interfere with a Wi-Fi network. Try moving or disabling these devices.
  • If your wireless and wired networks are the same, try connecting your Apple TV to the router via Ethernet instead of Wi-Fi.
  • Use the Wi-Fi network troubleshooting guide to resolve interference and other issues.

Best of luck,

Mario

I am having the exact same problem but with AppleTV 2nd Gen. Airplay will run for a few secs then it will simply disconnect. Then when I try to connect it again, it won't work until I reboot apple TV, refresh Wifi, etc. Then it will drop again after max 60 sec 120 secs. It was working fine before I installed Mavericks.

I went through all the troubleshooting suggested by the forwarded threads by Mario49 - still the same issue.

This is beyond frustration. I hope someone can tell me how to fix this or that Apple will fix it on there next update.

Still nothing for me. Did everythinhg suggested here and wifi settings are flawless and as per Apple recommendations, updated firmware on apple tv, updated Router firmware, hard reset router, tested on direct ethernet connection, rebooted computer and apple tv, no bluetooth enabled devices in sight, tested on 2 different TV sets, router close, far, did many test with router settings - I stand firm - this was working flawlessly before mavericks. The problem is definitely with Apple. please fix !

I have a brand new 3 days old macbook pro with mavericks. My apple TV is a year old.

My ipad works great with the apple tv airplay. both video and audio. I use it in our youth group for videos etc.

Went to do the same thing with my new macbook pro and like everyone is saying it goes for a little bit video wise then doesn't play. Never can get any audio. Tried all kinds of setting in the audio section of preferences as well.

Sometimes video.

Never audio

ipad with older operating system works great.

Must be a mavereicks thing.

Hello,

Please support me with my devices. I have:

* Macbook Pro 2,9 GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB running OS X 10.9

* iPhone 5 running IOS 7.0.4;

* Apple TV running 6.0.2;

Since the last updates (OS, IOS) the airplay icon appear only if I restart my apple tv and even the I could airplay only my iphone properly. My Mac will play in airplay only video without audio. and even this is working untill the first time my mac will enter in standby. after that the airplay will not apper on either off the devices till the restart.

Apple TV is connected to the wifi router through a ethernet connection. and both the mac and the iphone via wifi.

I have the same configuration for more than 1 year and things were ok till some weeks ago.

Thank you

I have 2 Apple tv's which I use to mirror ipad content. Both have worked fine since purchase around a year ago. Last week I updated one of the apple tv's to software version 6.0.2. It will now not properly mirror video and sound from the ipad. The other Apple TV that still has the old software version 6.0 mirrors video perfectly. I think the issue is with the Apple TV software update.

I have the exact same issue. My MBP is mid-2012 so it's not a hardware problem. Also not a wifi problem. Everything worked absolutely fantastic - and then I made the mistake of updating my ATV to accommodate the mavericks update - then mirroring ceased to work. Or, after restarting absolutely everything, it would work and then disconnect after 10sec. and not work after that. Every device has the newest update.

This is so frustrating. I'll call them early next week & update this fourm if they are helpful.
