I upgrade the Pages'09 to the Pages'13. Then I found a big problem that all citation software is not able to work in the new pages, including Endnote and Papers. Could Apple do something to solve this fatal issue asap?

I remember the inegration with EndNote (and MathType) being announced with great fanfare with iWork '09, I used EndNote for a while and switched to Papers for Mac which was much better.

And then, BOOM, AppleScript was stripped out of the new iWork and we can't reference anymore. Pages is now useless to any student or any education user as a result. This is a market Apple is supposed to care about!

I'm working on a PhD which is a pretty serious piece of word processing and I'm now questioning whether I should switch from Pages before I put too much effort in to a product that has been downgraded so much.

Apple have seriously misread how their customers are using this product and what they need from it.

i can't agree more on this point.

i totally can't understand why apple no longer support scripts in new Pages

i used to be a heavy user of Pages instead of Word, for its fluency and simplicity.

but now Pages becomes too simple, just a advance version of TextEditor

making reference and bibliography is essential for students and educator, which cannot be ignored.

i can only interpret apple's strategy on Pages as ''giving up those customers"
