I have met the same problem too!

Mine is also the new macbook pro Haswell.

I have been using my macbook for 2 days.

And I have encountered sudden freeze for 4 times!

The keyboard and the trackpad are unresponsive.

But actually the system is working and the apps are working.

And the power button can actually work.

So every time I met this problem,I long press the power button and make it restart.

And then everything is okay.

Somtimes ,if you wait for 10~15 min, the keyboard and the trackpad will start working again.

When the second time I met this problem, I decided to go to the apple store for help.

But after several mins, it works again.

It is very annoying that the system suddenly freeze when you are busy working on the documents.

And it causes damage that you force to shut down the macbook.

I think it is a software problem?

Hope Apple can release some updates to solve this problem soon!

You guys all ran out like sheep buying the latest version instead of waiting a month or so to see what issues may arise. We've had WiFi issues with one, Display issues with another and now the keyboard/trackpad issue for this model. You didn't learn from the past obviously, Now you are up in arms as Apple has not had some press release and spot in the nightly news. Has Apple ever chimed in and said anything about issues? No, they just deal with them and correct them. Cry refund, count down 14 days.... Drive yourself nuts cause you forked over $$$$$ to be a test pilot for Apple. You'll get sorted out, but you must be patient. I'll wait for a rev 2 Haswell MBP 15" when they do a speed bump.

So I received my 13 inch pro yesterday and it hung about 2 hours after use in Safari. I then used Firefox for a while and it hung in that. This morning it hung in Safari again so I did a hard reset and started my backup to the external hard drive. I then started working in Dropbox to move my files from my old XP desktop to the external hard drive. I used it for a good 8 hours today and never hung until I started browsing again. I did report the hang today to apple support this morning. So I would think its a software problem.

And you, my friend, are not helping.

But you also have to consider that not all of the buyers have used their machine very excessivily. I used my machine for like 6 hours today and did not have the issue at all. Yesterday I had it like three times in a row.

So it isn't noticeable necessaraly if you just unboxed the machine, surfed a bit and just set it up. Also lots of machines did not even arrive yet. Just wait another few days and I think this thread will explode if apple does not fix it quickly...

Would it be helpful if everyone who experiences a freeze, take a look at the log messages at the time of the freeze and report their findings here. For those of you unfamiliar with this, go to:

About This Mac

More Info

System Report

Logs

Apple System Log Messages

In my case the last message prior to the freeze is:

10/26/2013 7:25:57.000 PM kernel[0]: The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (1)

Obviously your time stamps will vary.

A USB thumb drive has stopped my freezes since this morning. For recovery I closed the lid, waited a minute then opened and resumed my session.

I tend to disagree. Many people ordered right after the keynote. Many stock MBPs got sold the next day in stores. Maybe not 400.000 but quite a number. And here it gets more people every day, too, meaning the number here grows slowly, too, just as the number of MBPs arrive. But as pointed out before, I do not think it is more than 0,0x percent reporting here.

See, I am thinking: if many MBPs are affected, people would storm the Apple stores. Either that or come here, online. If they stormed the stores, how come so many of the supporters hear from this just now? And where are the 5000+ people here in this thread?

If so many would be affected, I think we would have some more noise than just this here. My guess is that soemthing between 5% and max. 10% are affected. Otherwise the support team would have been officially informed, whatt to do and say within the first 48 hours. My suppporter today said, he heard about it before, but still he did not really have a clue and suggested "maybe we try this" and "okay, maybe it's better you return it". I am convinced, if 100.000+ brandnew MBPr's had this problem, the supporter would have sounded a little different.

I stay at my opinion: we are not the majority. Maybe a quite big minority, but stil a minorityl.

Posting about friends that have no issues with their new MBPr's is highly appreciated, guys.

I would honestly like to see a thread of "My MacBook Pro 13" Retina Late 2013 Works, and I have ran it for a day at least".

Basically, I haven't seen anyone post "My MacBook Pro Retina 13 Haswell Works".

All thought I really do belive that Apple is working on this.
