Q: New Retina Macbook pro 13 Haswell system hang/unresponsive

Hello Everyone.

 

I have just got my new macbook pro retina 13 Haswell (October Model). This is my second day of usage and i have encountered sudden system freeze for 2 times already. The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

 

 

Could anyone tell  me what is going on or having the same issue?

Yes thats true. I hope its something wrong with osx instead of out mac. If you guys find any solution. Pls let me know! Cheers!

    For what its worth this happened to me today on a 2011 15" macbook pro.

    Same symptoms, dead trackpad, dead keyboard, not even the volume keys worked.

    I didn't think to close the lid, but I did connect an external apple USB keyboard and that snapped it right out of it.

     

    This is the first time I've noticed it, though according to the logs in the Console app, it's happened twice.

    It's never happned prior to upgrading to Mavericks.

     

    I found this by searching for "remote wakeup" in the Console app with the top most node selected on the left hand side.

     

    10/30/13 3:24:19.000 PM kernel[0]: The USB device HubDevice (Port 1 of Hub at 0xfa000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2)

    10/30/13 3:24:19.000 PM kernel[0]: The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 2 of Hub at 0xfa100000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (3)

     

    I didn't read all 69 pages of posts so I don't know if I"m the first non retina user to report this, but it would seem to indicate it's an issue introduced with Mavericks and not something unique to the 13" retina MBP.

     

    Also if it helps anyone, I believe the mac had previously been asleep then woken, worked for a bit then the keyboard / mouse frooze up.

    Apple, how does it feel that every creative person in the world tonight is typing this on an IBM PC.  To my left is a MacBook Pro, 13", but it's useless to me because it keeps on locking the trackpad and keyboard.

    I have a retina mbp 13", 8g ram and 256g ssd for 7days.

    I haven't met the hang issue so far.

    But I fear that it will come at any time.

    I am considering to return this mbp wether or not.

    Can I exchange my new macbook pro for another new macbook pro?

    the freeze that I have only comes at random times, so there is a hit or miss, the people from the apple store, will see the macbook freeze. So can I still get an exchange for my macbook? I barely bought it on Wednesday.

    The same issue here, in my case, I had one from apple store online, it has this issue. After returned it, and buy a new one in Best Buy, still same issue. I'm unlucky or this issue just so popular.

    Considering this is a software issue, it probably exists in every 2013 late Mbp retina.I'm afraid it helps nothing to exchange a new one.

    I think its a common issue for all 13" retina mbp, wherever you buy it.

    I am confused that if it is a software issue why the 15" retina mbp is fine?

    I am having a Nov 2012 Mac Book pro (2.3Ghz Intel Core i7, 4G RAM) and having the same issue post Mavericks upgrade.

    Both keyboard and trackpad hang and only option left is a hard reboot.

    Same issue here.

     

    Macbook Pro Retina 13 Late with 2,4 GHz, 16GB Ram, 256 GB SSD

    Bought at Apple Online Store. Delivered yesterday.

     

    Today keyboard and trackpad hang for the first time while I'am surfing.

    Nothing but hardreset helped.
