13"/8M/256G, picked up at NewHaven/CT Apple store.  After 6 day's experience I can see those dreadful messages in the system log, but no lock up or no freeze yet. Updated 3 apps so far. I haven't stored/transferred my personal/work data in it yet. Bluetooth is ON and using a Microsoft (bluetooth) mouse.

I have found a way to 'manage around' these freezes (I get about 2 a day), until Apple release the fix that they are now working on, and that is to close the lid - for 30 secs and reopen it again.  Everything is back to normal - without a hard shutdown and the loss of one's work.  I'm sure we'll soon have a fix - so a little patience is required. They are awesome machines.

Sounds like good news.  Does it mean it's definitely a software issue now?

The better workaround is to insert a USB device.  It both stops the error message and prevents a freeze.  I was fortunate to have a spare Logitech Unifying Receiver which is virtually unnoticeable.  Not a single freeze since I put it in 2 days ago.

Is this related to all late 2013 rMBP machines or only 13 " rMBP because I am planning to buy a new rMBP 15" 2.3ghz in next couple of days.

    Please Help.

To all those claiming this is a software problem - what exactly are you basing this assumption on?

I can see to indication in Apple's statement that they even know what the problem is yet, or whether it can be fixed by software. When Apple say "working on an update" they could mean a hardware, or software update, and the fact that they're "working" on it does not mean we are guaranteed a viable solution.

I wonder whether this issue is related to the Haswell USB bug?

i just had problems with iphoto and a connected camera via usb. iphoto crashed and i think it was the auto sleep mode of the camera that made iphoto hang.

just wanted to add this cause of all the usb issue warnings in terminal of our haswell retinas during the last days. though i think it just hanged cause my camera has turned into sleep mode and a google search says the same.

The 15" modell has a different build of Mavericks and is not affected

Based on the fact that it seems that actually all 13" rMBP are affected. A hardware problem would have been easily detected on prototypes by Apple.
If it was just 10%, I would assume a hardware problem. But as it seems it is 100%.  This points very much into the direction of a software problem, otherwise Apple simply would have seen it while devolping the machine. Also, there are some older MacBooks that have been upgraded to Mavericks and suddenly show the same issues. So it seems to be a generic problem in Mavericks and a very special problem in Mavericks Build 13A2093

I'm experiencing same issue on my mid-2012 15" MacBook Pro.  It's happened three times since upgrading to 10.9.

I don't think you can assume all 13" rMBP are affected. In Apple's own statement they claim  "Apple is aware of rare circumstances ".

My 13" retina was migrated from a Time Machine backup of my 15" machine. Both are running Mavericks, both have exactly the same software, services and apps and yet the 15" is working fine with no undue messages appearing in the logs.

It happened to me and I have build 13A603 and Early 2013 system without Hashwell and 15" maybe not so often like on new systems but it did.

So far not a single person could be found, that has a late 2013 13" rMBP and is not affected. (Be aware, that plugging in an USB device does pervent the error from happening, so maybe not all know about it.)

It simply seems to be a general glitch in mavericks. Maybe due to the massive energy-saving that was introduced to Mavericks.
