In some way, it is rare. My rMBP run yesterday for 6 hours with no freeze. Then it did freeze. I guess you can call this rare, no? They didn't speak of "on a few devices", they talk about "rare circumstances".

Also, please do not forget: Apple is a company. They try to make money. They have public-relations-people. They do know how to make this sound as little scary as possible to potential new customers of a 13" rMBP

Why you don't plug in an USB2 device? a mouse, an usb-memorystick, etc.? This will prevent the freezes.

One of the established, temporary fixes is to plug in a USB device, such as a key or USB mouse.  Everyone has reported success with this method until the real fix is released.

I was just wondering if any of you are facing other problems other than the keyboard/trackpad freeze ?? someone in the thread wrote about screen and graphics problems ?? does anyone face these problems too ?? I am planning to get the rmbp 13" but if there is any other problems i will rather buy the 13" air instead

Anyone got a Retina, 13-inch, late 2013 that has NOT shown to have the problem talked about in this thread? If so indicatating it could be hardware over sofrtware. Also the problem is now mentioned in Apples statement.

yeah i'm wondering the same thing... graphic glitches and slow wi-fi have been mentioned but from serching online haven't found much mention of it. Not sure if this is because it's new or they're just isolated cases.

I've got a 13" late 2013 and as mentioned many pages ago I've been having freezing problem. Wifi seems fine so far and never seen a screen glitch.

Not sure if I'm lucky but only heard a few people mention it. That could well be an entirely unrelated bug or hardware fault

Well I was worried about this after reading news reports.  Freezes started today on my 2 day old 13 Mbpr.  I wonder if it's affecting the 15" also?  Talked to apple and the tech rep said this is the first one he'd seen.  Only fix that i've tried is closing lid for 30 sec.

People, please read the thread.  I know it's long though of the folks on this thread have spent many hours with this issue already and have provided a known fix: plug in a USB device.

I also see no relationship between the freeze issue and some other glithces that pepple are experiencing, hence I would recommend starting another thread for those.

Hoping not to jinx my self, but I just got my 13 inch rMBP 2.8 i7/16gb/1tb on 10/29 and I have not experienced any freezes yet.  Build 13A2063,  hope I got the build right, I'm not in front of my mac right now.  I know it is not 13a603?  The weird thing is I checked the log yesterday and found about 12 of the kb/trackpad wake errors that happened for about half an hour while I was doing initial setup over a half hour period then they stopped.  I have not seen the error since however I have only been able to use my new mac for about 6 hours in the last 2 days.  The only things connected is the charger and a wireless apple magic mouse.

i had the graphic glitches and posted it first here. dont worry this glitches was just for a millisecond and happend about 3 or 4 times in one week of normal use. it must me some software bug or so. i spent 1500 euros for my book and i am just overwatching every single issue cause if there are really big problems i would bring it back to apple. at the moment there just usual things going on with mavericks as with many other operating systems. rarely my two finger scrolling hangs with a web side ( 2 times in one week) or my selected wallpapers did not save when i log in to my girlfriends account via the short menue in the top right. maybe the glitches just show up when you have a second account, who knows ...

i think thats normal crap with every os on the market and as long as the hardware is working i do not panic.

hardware seems good, book itself is fantastic. i do not import my private files until i know exactely whats going on and if i keep it or not.

again usb stick or mouse helps to stop the keyboard and trackpad freezing

I have other (wifi) question. When I look at the wifi icon after a (wifi) connection, why it is still flip-floping between "ON" and "Looking for..." Is it normal?

    Try this article:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628

I would go straight to the bottom and try to delete all wifi connections ALSO IN THE KEYCHAIN!!

After that make a new connection.
