The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

That still leads to hardware, firmware or driver only.

I think, what you might oversee here is that people do not care at all whether this is a problem in the kernel, a driver, the firmware or whatever. Everything based on code can be updated. But if you have a bad chip, no update or patch will change that. It might patch or cover it, but it will not "repair" it.
People here are simply interested in one question: is my hardware buggy and needs to be returned, or not.

As it seems now with the news that just came in, it seems it is hardware. I will wait a few more days to see, if any real good statement from Apple comes along, otherwise my rMBP goes back to sender.

Fair enough. I am waiting for mine to be delivered today. I will use it until the first error occurs. If it does, it is going straight back to Apple. If I do not get the error I will consider myself lucky.

As an update, I went to a third best buy store and checked two more rMBPs.

    So the summary is:

    1. Late 13' rMBP 13" 2.4 Ghz i5 128 GB Build 13A2093:  No error

    2. Late 13' rMBP 13" 2.4 Ghz i5 128 GB Build 13A2093:  No error

    3. Late 13' rMBP 15" 2 Ghz    i7 256 GB Build 13A3017:  No error

    4. Late 13' rMBP 13" 2.4 Ghz i5 256 GB Build 13A2093:  No error

    5. Late 13' rMBP 13" 2 Ghz    i7 256 GB Build 13A3017:  No error

There are not any USB devices plugged into any of these rMBPs. I played with all of them about 5 minutes each (trackpad and keyboard). I went and checked the history in syslog in all of these to know how old they are. The first 3 go back to 10/24/13 and the last 2 go back to 10/27/13 (unless somebody cleared the history). One store is aware of the issue but they claimed they have not gotten any returns, two stores were not aware.

As I said, a sample of 30 units would be a lot better to make final conclusions. However for me, this is enough to make my decision. I hope this information helps you as well. As I am paying for the whole experience, opening the box with a shiny high quality product you can deduce what I am going to do. Also, I need to put my mind into other stuff. One thing for sure is that you will have a good quality product either you decide to return it or wait for a fix.

It seems that every rMBP is freezing now. My girlfriend and I both got the new rMBP and both are freezing! It may not be serious, and I'm not worried. If it's a hardware bug Apple would have to recall all of them. They have to work on fixing this quickly, otherwise there is a huge cost to Apple. But any way this is lame. Apple should really have detected this bug because it should have shown up after just several hours of testing.

To the best of my knowledge there's no thread as there's no complaints of this same issue on the late 2013 rMBP 15", seems right as rain does the 15"

    Update to my last post:

OK, one last but VERY IMPORTANT piece of information. They just told me in the last store I visited that the computers they had on display the first day were actually defective and they had to "fix" them in order to put those on display (I am assuming they did the same thing on the other 2 stores). Also, I was told that they put "some" rMBPs ( did not specify if 13" and/or 15") on hold for one day (i.e. they were not allowed to sell them) after the release date and got those replaced. So I guess you should disregard the message of the 5 rMBPs since they were "fixed" before placing them on display. This really has helped me to make my final decision.

This is a  Good new. If they fixed them ( HOW ), Apple will fix our rMBP. But i don't understand one thing, if they fixed the units in the store and 1.000.000 of people give back the defective laptops, why Apple doesn't release the solution...

Dear Apple you are losing points...

Maybe they disabled or dialed back the power saving settings in "System Preferences > Energy Saver".

But how could they have found out so quickly what solves the problem?

I just disabled my power saving settings and still get the error on the console.
