    Hi everyone!

I have the new 15" MBPR and have a very similar problem! My MBPR quite often stops working... I can use the trackpad to move the cursor and also click for example to shut down the mbpr, but the system does not react anymore! For example this problem appeared today when i was watching some photos in my dopbox via website.

Anyone else with this problem at the 15"??? Already any News to this topic?

Honestly I didn't read all of the 79 pages....

Better contact the support. 15" modells are not affected by the problem and also the problem is different from yours.

I also had no problems for two days straight ultil I got my first freeze like 4h ago (and another one like 2h ago). Luckily I already knew that just closing the lid for a few seconds "fixes" the problem for now and I won't have to force reset it and have data loss.

If you want to avoid freezes, just plug in an USB 2 device, like an USB mouse or an USB memorystick. This will prevent your MBP from freezing.

now sure if anyone has talked about this. I also have a mid 2010 MBP. I installed clean Mavericks. It is used now by my wife. She uses it continulessly through the day as she is a tutor. There have been no lock-ups. I dont know how much the hardware changed from the new macs to the last ones but I would not think the keyboard and track would have changed. just an observation.

    rMBP Late 2012 i7 2,9. 8Gb ram. 256Gb. Mavericks 13A603.

The usb device apple internal keyboard/trackpad (port 2 of hub at 0x1d180000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wake up(3).

Got this error but not the lock of the trackpad/keyboard.

    Regards.

Very interesting. First time we see the kernel error on an older device. Thanks for sharing.

I left the computer for a few minutes and start to use it again and i get the error again in the console, but not the system or trackpad lock, maybe mavericks have the bug  for all macbooks but affects in more than one way depending of the hardware of your trackpad.

    Just imagination.

My new rMBP arrives in 3 days, i'm shaking...

Macbook White Early 2008 here. Running Lion 10.7.5

I see the errors in the Console too, sometimes:

The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 2 of Hub at 0x5d000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2)

The error seems to be the same, also I had some lockups of keyboard and mouse. Those happened only while I was using OmniGraffle, so I guess the problem is the same, should be software and should be fixable.

Anyway I am waiting for my new 13" retina, hopefully I'll see the update when I receive it.

I'm currently waiting for Apple to solve keyboard / trackpad freezing problem on late 2013, Haswell 13" rMBP before purchasing one in Australia...

However, having read the below link, am I correct in pressuming this may be a hardware (i.e. Intel Haswell chip) issue and that the actual chip may need replacing?

    http://www.everythingusb.com/intel-haswell-usb-3.0-21812.html

Quote:  "...but all things considered this bug is no reason to not get a new system. Intel is fully aware of it and a new bug fixed C2 revision is expected shortly, so only early adopters will be impacted by it.

Also, any Haswell chips sold now will in all likelihood be replaced free of charge once the new C2 revision is released..."

If so, I'd hate to purchase a new laptop with a 'dodgy' chip that Apple manages to mask with a software update alone.  Also, not to say this may happen but, wouldn't appreciate being sold a refurbished laptop as 'new' -considering all the ones that have already been returned!

Any comments / thoughts relative to the above link?  Thanks.

Were this a Haswell only bug, wouldn't explain the people complaining about this issue with older MBPs and minis.  Nor does it explain why 15" Haswell models don't have the issue.  But who knows, Apple is not talking.

That said, I will be returning my rMBP soon if Apple doesn't fess up with a detailed explanation.  Their caveat that this is a "rare" occurance on Late 2013 13" models is an outright lie.  One wonders if they've opted to hire spin doctors rather than competent QA engineers.  I know spin doctors are cheaper and easier to come by.
