The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

Could anyone tell  me what is going on or having the same issue?

Same issue. had to restart my computer.... it seems I have to get accustomed to this kind of problem if I buy a new just-released Apple product

    due to:

    http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/4444/3/33-haswell-motherboard-group-test-26x-z87 -4x-h87-and-3x-b85-the-usb-issue-definitely-there

the rev.04 in Southbridge is the C1 (bad one)

so I would give my rMBP back to apple and wait until they release hardware with the C2 (rev.05) and hope its bugfree

so that does mean its a hardware problem and cannot be fixed by apple via software update?

or will it be a kind of workaround ?

i should mention that i didnt have any problems of freezing since i have a usb stick plugged in(usb2).

ok ... since apple's statement here:

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5296?viewlocale=en_US

I thought this was a software problem, but now also can be a hardware problem? why apple uses buggy hardware, which is known to be buggy since several month?

    will get my rMBP 13 / i7 / 256 / 16 next tuesday ... will send it back directly I think.

I think this is also why apple don't tell anything about the scope of the problem (SW or HW) ... they may now that is HW and dont want to tell us?

for me it does mean that this is a hardware problem

usually its not possible to fix a hardware failure with software for 100% but maybe they could fix it with software up to a level where it is possible to work with (less frezze) - lets see

I have been following this thread since the first posts and it seemed to be a bug with Mavericks - until this C1 thing -

so I hope I am wrong and it is actually a software bug - but as long as I do not know exactly what the error is, I will not buy the new rMBP

keep on going guys about that c1 or c2 chip thing. would be great if more people running windows with boot camp could check out the chip specs. if you know a way to check the chip specs on my mavericks let me know and i will check it out.

    rev 4 or rev 5.

i do not have installed windows and i am glad that people here are posting this.

no it looks like apple sold us macbooks with well known buggy hardware. even if a update can handle this i am not willed to accept this and then i am going to bring mine back and buy a new one in a few weeks or so.

it is absolutely dissapointing, if its really true, how can that be ? i mean this is an apple macbook pro or actually should be one.

Guys, that bug has nothing to do with the issue. That bug is simply a minor power management issue with the USB3 controller that briefly means a USB 3 device will reconnect when woken up from standby. It's not a big problem and it would never cause a system to crash. That bug affects every single motherboard manufactured for Haswell until recently, and there's no reports of other Haswell laptops doing this. It is not related.

I am pretty sure then, that the haswell macbook air has been shipped with an old haswell c1 chip.

why arent there any air users reporting problems ?

hope you are right an update to the issue from apple would be good now ... a simple update can stop this discussion very fast

    @bobs

system is not crashing, trackpad and keyboard are not responding anymore, and some useres believe it is because keys and trackpad are internally connected trough usb.

If that was the case it would be doing the same within Windows, which it doesn't. It's just a simple bug that they should have picked up in quality control.

i wonder why nobody from apple is joining this thread from time to time. a lot of people there are about to read all comments to capture the problem and nobody jumps in and says a word to stop the folks bringing back their gear.

i know thats normal behaviour but i would tell people that they do not have to worry cause it is a little software glitch or ok we have some older chips in the first macbooks we sold and just bring it back, the new ones are fine and so on. would be so easy and nobody could complain about the company cause **** happens.
