I have just been told by support that the latest Mavericks version is 13A603 and I should wipe my mbpr 13 i7 and install this.  Anyone else been told this, or already have this OS version and still having issues?

Reinstalling was mentioned quite a few times, but it is new information that finally even the support of Apple is aware that the build 13A2093 is more buggy in this topic than other builds of Maverick. Since other people reported to have freezes with 13A603 on older devices as well, I would think about it well before spending much time on this. I think in a few days, a patch/update will be available.

I am very curious why there are different versions of Mavericks on our rMBP 13s than what is on the App store.  Maybe it is the OS version?  Anyway let's see what Apple says.  Thankfully, I've only had 1 freeze that I know of so far; though last night, I opened the lid and got a message saying the computer had restarted.

I'm not in front of my machine.  I'll try disconnecting my Bluetooth when I get home tonight.

Am having the same issue as well... The keyboard and trackpad totally freeze and I can't do anything except to hard reset it by long pressing on the power button...

So far it has freezed twice.. Will opt for return if the issue still persist.. bad experience for me as the first timer that just switch from Windows...

My Macbook pro 13 spec is as below:

    2.4GHz

    128GB SSD

    8GB DDR RAM

Everyone is talking about the touchpad and keyboard are the one that freeze, does it mean the external mouse will work? Does this harm the other hardware?  Seems like everyone having this problem.

Better yet, once you plug in that mouse the problem will stop occuring altogether. As long as you plugin any device that uses USB you're fine. That probably includes inserting an SD memory card in the SD slot or connecting something by bluetooth as I think these are internally connected to USB.

    13A603 apparently is newer.

Either way, it seems the issue has been reported on both, so better to wait for the actual fix, unless you have a lot of time on your hands and are prepared to go for the trial and error approach...

    Last Saturday 10-26-13, I purchased my new MacBook Pro Retina A1502, 2.4Ghz, i5, 8 GB DDR3L, 256 GB Flash.

This is my first Apple product and was very exited to experience what many of my friends have been talking about. The set up was fast and easy and I am happy with how fast it accomplishes anything. Starting on the third day of working on it I noticed the first freeze. I was playing a short video clip, which kept playing but the keyboard and the track pad were completely unresponsive. No peripherals where plugged and no other programs running simultaneously. I had to force a restart with the power button in order to get it back to normal. In a week of light use of this Mac Book, It has been unresponsive three separate times.

I was a little shocked to read so many posts with the same issue and hope Apple gets this resolved soon.

Same problem here on my new 13" MBP.  Mine is 2.6/8/512.  I've had the freeze happen twice in the first three days of ownership.

The first time was after several hours of usage.  That time I just closed the lid and reopened it after a few seconds, and everything was fine.

The second incident happened this morning.  Was checking my email shortly after I opened the lid.  Closing and reopening took me to the login prompt, but didn't correct the behavior.  Did the long power button trick and restarted.  After re-login everything was fine.

This is my first experience with an OS X Mac.  Otherwise very impressed, but the freezing is worrisome.  Hope it gets patched soon.

    CrazyUncle...

If you had the errors at all, then it would seem you are indeed in the same boat, though the BT may be resolving them as is the USB for the rest of us (though I thoguht there was some discussion of the BT effect earlier).  Anyway, like the others, would be interested to see what happens when you disconnect.  We would all expect that you at least get the errors back.

SD has been reported before to not stop the freezes.

As I previously reported I have the same issue with my rMBP 13" as all late 2013 owners. Tody I have visited the Apple Store located in Majadahonda/Madrid/Spain  Entered into console in 3 rMBP 13". All consoles reported the dreaded error.  Repeated procedure with several rMBP 15" and with a couple non retina's. No errors there. FYI.

Three days in and just had my first freeze. Have put in a USB device for now.

I am not angry that a new machine as complex as this may have a few teething problems, I am angry that Apple have issued a terse statement telling us almost nothing and leaving many, many people with a dilemma about whether to return or not. In my own case, I bought online and don't really want to send a £1000+ machine back via some Apple-designated courier, to be left wondering when I will get my refund. For me - as I am sure for many others - the money I paid for this thing wasn't just lying around.

This is my first MacBook - I'm hugely disappointed. I am perfectly happy to wait for a fix; it's just I want to know that there will be one that I can simply download . . . Apple are just leaving us hanging (pun intended). Or perhaps they are as baffled as us.

In the meantime, I am spending way too much time looking at this thread!
