Yes, Oli, that's what I've read as well.

It's killing me, really, because I really wanted the 13" machine...it's just the perfect form factor (not to mention getting that extra battery life).

But after reading pretty much every page of this thread and hearing about all the different problems, I am starting to think that I will just have to get a 15". I really don't want to, but I don't see I have any other choice. It's a pity, because it's going to force me to change my work habits: no more writing on the couch, watching movies with the notebook on my lap, throwing it in a bag.

I suppose, on the bright side of it, buying the "ultimate" maxed-out version of the 15", I'll get a machine that will easily be able to edit my 40,000 photos and 100s of hours of videos. And I'll get a pretty sweet sound system as well.

But I'm feeling annoyed that I can't get the machine of my dreams...the 13" just doesn't seem reliable enough.

And I feel REALLY sad for all the 13" buyers here, especially those for whom this was their first Mac computer.

If it means anything to anyone here, I still believe that Apple makes the best consumer computers on the planet. And I say this from over 30 years' IT experience, starting with using stand-alone (non-network terminal) machines back in 1979. In fact, I'm sorry that I didn't convert to Macs until 2007, when I bought my first Mac: a MacBook Pro 17" with the highest res, RAM, and HD available at the time. I still have that machine, I've upgraded the HD 3x, I've dropped it (it took the blunt force trauma like a trooper—NO damage to ANY functionality!), had the graphics card replaced, upgraded to every new OS X release (except Mavericks), and the machine still kills it. That problem with the graphics card: it was a known issue, and so Apple replaced it for free (and would have even if I HADN'T had Apple Care).

I give you an example for the c1 bug:

    - You have an USB3 memory-stick connected to your USB port

    - You have a file open on that memory-stick. (for example: a movie)
    - You put your MacBook to sleep.

    - You wake up your MacBook

    - The MacBook can not find the movie file on the USB memory stick for the part of a second.

    - The movie stops.

    - The USB stick shows up as new connected.

    - You have to restart the movie.

The c1 bug is not really such a big issue.

No Camille654321, I understand how extremely disappointing a faulty machine out of the box is. I was just ready to purchase one, than I found this thread. So I'm really disapointed too, as this was the one laptop I've been looking forward to for several months. I really do hope Apple does have a solution to fix this soon.

I would sleep over that decision again. Doesn't sound like you would become happy with a 15".

From my perspective now, the 13" does not have any real dramatic issues.

And don't forget: Probably much much more people bought the 13" so far, because it is cheaper, more portable and has a performance that is enough for the average user. I think a number of 10:1 might be realistic on the sales of 13":15" maybe even more than that.

And this affects the number and speed of bugs reported quite a lot.

So, for example, the 15" could have the sound bug as well, but simply nobody noticed it yet. (I tend to believe this is a pure software-based bug as well)

Ok just returned the MBP 13" retina Haswell at the Apple store.

The manager called over someone who appeared to be a senior Tech

Who after being told what the problem was confirmed that it is a hardware

Problem, bad trackpad assembly. He said " you don't want me to

Repair this, we have to replace the top case & keyboard just to get at

It and then put everything back in"

They credited me on the spot.

To me this is difinitive, the apple tech was aware of he issue

    And says its hardware.

Sorry everyone, I know it's disappointing but it's better to know

The truth then be in doubt.

Oli i still dont agree with You. The way it append is the rasy going s2 ślepe problem , s3 problem resolvoes by physical removal of media.  With s2 You can wake but with s3 wakeup is imposiblle;)

Do I understand correctly? You simply described your problem, but did not mention that all 13" users have these problems?

I think that guy was simply speaking out of past experiences.

He didn't know about all 13" being affected, nor did he know about the official statement from Apple.

guys, I would not freak out, just because one single tech guy at some store tells his customer "yeah, this is broken hardware" after he heard the symptoms of the keyboard and touchpad not responding anymore from time to time.

You know how these "experts" sometimes are ...

If the tech guy knew so much, then you would expect Apple to build new batch of rMPB without any fault but there are many more on this group complaining about freezes with laptops they received today......

I don't think so. If the guy is right (and I really doubt this at this point, I think the guy was only talking about what he thinks is the reason - and he might understand nothing about a UNIX kernel, if it was a pure tech guy) Apple will have to recall all devices that are affected. So you will get a new one, even if the first 14 days are over.
