He also said that not all late 13" Retina do have this problem but i actually cannot believe that.
I had also people before that told me "I have an 13" rMBP and don't have this problem".
Then I asked 2 simple questions: a) how many hours have you been using it and b) you wouldn't happen to have an USB device plugged in?
Guess, what the answers were.
"ok, I unplugged my USB stick and you're right, my rMBP froze about one hour later" - untill this point the guy was sure he is not affected.
Also: many people that use their devices heavily, report very few up to no freezes.
This makes perfectly sense.
Because the problem is related to power management / power saving.
The kernel reports wakups always after at least 5 seconds of the user not using keyboard and touchpad. Now people that use their MBP heavily are using the keyboard and touchpad most of the time.
This also explains why many people experience freezes during inital setup, while download or websurfing. Simply because the user is either reading or waiting - and not touching the keyboard ot touchpad.
So yes, there might be quite a few people out there who are sure they are not affected. But I believe they are.
Freezes happen rather rare. My rMBP now says:
up 3 days, 21:03, 2 users, load averages: 1,14 1,23 1,47
So I used it for 21 hours without reboot. All together I have used it for around 25 hours. I had two freezes all together. The first one within the first 20 minutes of usage. That makes one freeze in the following 24 hours.
Now figure yourself, why some people think their device is not affected. Coming home from work, reading and writing some eMails, a little bit of surfing at facebook, listening one song on iTunes and then it's time for bed. I think, people can do this for 7,8 or 10 days without having a freeze, if the circumstances happen to come into place. Other people boot their device and 5 minutes later have a freeze. And then no freeze for 3 or 4 days.
Not all people have this problem? True! Not all owners of a 13" rMBP have experienced this problem yet.
Not all devices have this probem? Wrong! All devices have the same build 13A2093 of Mavericks and so the bug is resting inside and will freeze the keyboard and touchpad if the circumstances fit.
Now the people at the stores and the people of the support team might have information or at least a guess about the number of rMBP sold and the number of people calling/coming back and telling them "I have a problem". Of course the support people as well as the store people have the feeling not all buyers of the rMBP are affected. Because only a certain percentage experiences the problem (due to USB devices plugged in, due to not much usage, etc.) and only a certain percentage of these who experience take action by going to the store or calling the support. And then, let's assume two people are left, one goes to the store and the other one calls the support - and both get to hear "you're the first to tell me about it."
Please also take a second to reflect: Apple says in http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5296 the following:
Apple is aware of rare circumstances where the built-in keyboard and Multi-Touch trackpad may become unresponsive on 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display (Late 2013) computers
It says "rare circumstances on 13-inch rMBP computers". That clearly indicates: All devices, but only under rare circumstances.
Not only on some of the devices.
