I am having the exact same issue with my 13" Retina MBP 2.8Ghz I7 16gb Ram 512SSD.

Really looking forward to a fix as the machine is otherwise flawless.
And to think just a few months ago I refused to even use one.

One thing about this machine is it's probably the most scrutinized and analyzed machine apple ever produced.

    This was ironic right?

I believe that someone has already discovered why you might not be seing the errors in the logs at the retail store.  Nonetheless, making things even more interesting from a statistical analysis, there's not a single post nor response to one my my posts about this issue on Mac-Forum.

I've now started yet another post again in hopes that everyone or anyone with a new 13 rMBP will chime-in:

    http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/apple-notebooks/305187-keyboard-trackpad-freeze -13-late-2013-rmbp.html#post1547835

I myself am not yet convineced that this thread alone provides a sufficient representative sample.

That doesn't change the fact, though, that there are a sufficient enough number of people with the issue to cause Apple to acknowledge it in their very brief article.

I just got mine yesterday. It's frozen three times already and the internet seems much slower than my housemates macbook pro who uses the same internet connection! Do we think Apple are going to sort this or should I take it back and go for an original mbpro? thanks

Received 5 days ago - how many hours of usage do you have all together by now, approximately?

You have no USB devices plugged in? No bluetooth-mouse connected or something alike?

Your feedback is highly appreciated. Thanks for the info

Still no freeze after 6 days.

I use my MBP approximately 4-5 hours a day.

    Never plugged a USB device.

Connected a bluetooth mouse for a few minutes.

By the way, I have this multiple times in console :

kernel[0]: The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2)

BobSS---What's the image retention issue you mentioned?  I haven't experienced or read about it...

I'm having the same issue. Everything except for the power button seems to become unresponsive and I have to restart my macbook.

I see the following message in the log files but I'm not 100% sure that it is related to the freeze issue because it appears much more often than the freezing happens.

The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2)

    Nov  3 14:17:24 --- last message repeated 2 times ---

Has everyone already seen this thread?

    https://discussions.apple.com/message/23610070#23610070

It contains a summary of the situation and a couple of workarounds that might help for the time being (plugging in a USB 1.0 or 2.0 device or installing Caffeine which I coincidentally already have installed so I'll give that a try).

I think it's a problem related with Mavericks, instead of a hardware issue. I have a 2009 MacBook Pro and I had similar strage behaviours after upgrading to that version of the operating system. I have reinstalled Mountain Lion and it works fine again.

Hey everyone, thanks for such an informative and dedicated discussion here,

I got my rMBP 13inch 2.6 i5/ 8/ 256 three days ago. I have not experienced a freeze yet, but my everyday usage does include many USB devices: mouse, external DAC, etc.....though they're not plugged in all the time.

However, I do see the same error message as everyone else in the kernel log. What bothers me the most is that the error message keeps going even after I have closed the lid without any USBs attached. When this happens, it burns through my battery life at an incredibly fast pace. In a few hours my battery would be drained, and this is with the lid closed.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

So we know that usb2 or usb1 devices plugged in stop the issues for now - can anyone please confirm if using caffeine works as well?

    Bobs22,

What is the image retention issue & how does it manifest ?

I am not sure if I saw it or not, I did have several strange video related

Issues, one where I selected multiple photos to send in an iMessage & the

iMessage interface never popped up but the selected photos became superimposed

On top of the desktop, Everything else worked under neath them and around them but

Had to restart to get the image to go away.

Possibly some other misc graphical glitches as well flashes, stuck elements and such.

But are you folks discussing a burn in problem?

I'm testing the Caffeine workaround at the moment, I'll let you know when the problem doesn't occur again within the next 12 hours. That should be long enough to consider it fixed.
