Just like everyone else, I am also experiencing sudden freezes. Over the past two days (since I bought it), it has happened twice so far.

Configuration: MBP retina, i5 (2.4Ghz), 256GB SSD, 8 GB RAM.

Not many reports on this, but I did read that Mavericks tends to crash more often than any other OS.

    http://venturebeat.com/2013/10/25/apples-new-os-x-mavericks-crashes-far-more-fre quently-for-some-including-me/

Maybe a reset of the SMC or nvram (pram), will fix the iMac.

This, unfortunately, does not fix the MBP13 Haswell issues :/

So... What does this all mean?

So far, from the information I have gathered, it looks like both the first and second tier of MBP have issues, but most of the issus are with the 256GB SSD, 4GB RAM and the 2.4GHz CPU

No-one has 16GB of RAM or the i7 at 2.8GHz or 1TB SSD, but I don't think that they are exempt from the issue.

Sorry, quick edit. problems with 8GB of RAM, there are also problems with 4GB, but the majority of the users are having issues with 8GB

Same problem for me also 2.4 i5/8gb/256gb,had it for 4 days and it has frozen at least 6 times, spoke to Apple support and went through a few things, start in safe mode reset pram but still having the same problem,I will be returning for a refund on tues,it's such a shame because it's a great machine apart from that.

I am also interested in making a purchase of the MBP retina, i5 (2.6Ghz), 256GB SSD, 8 GB RAM.  I placed my feedback to Apple for the cause.  As soon as this problem is fixed my online order is going in.

I am pretty sure this is a Software issue, and I hope it is fixed very soon.

The fact that there is little acknowledgement form Apple is most likely that it is the weekend.

For now though, if you want to get the MacBook Pro, and these sort of deal-breaking issues persist, I would suggest boot-camping Windows.

It does not appear that anyone is having said issues with Windows (Asked a few people). Drivers work fine too.

Looks like the only thing you miss is the full 9 promised hours of battery life, you get around 6-7.

i have 13" base model 4GB RAM and 128GB SSD. purchased on friday and had the keyboard/trackpad cut out 5 times that day. i closed lid and let it sleep the rest of the night. on saturday and through today i have not had the issue occur - even with heavy usage yesterday and last night. had multiple applications pulled up, too.

i have sent the feedback to apple with a link to this thread. seems power is getting cut to input devices only to return on wake.

anyone else see this issue disappear on its own?

I think it's premature to think that the issue has disappeared for you. Mine worked fine for a day and half with heavy use and then froze again this monring. It has forzen a total of 3 times so far since I bought it on Thursday night. Just keep using it and see what happens over the next couple of days. When mine freezes, just putting it into sleep for ~5 minutes seems to get the keyboard/trackpad working again.

    Starting to see external sites reporting on the issue too;

The more exposure the better I'm thinking.
