The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

Great news. I'm happy for everyone who didn't return. I think I'll wait it out for a bit and then rebuy.

    Thanks iPad3_screwdagain

It looks like we can all go to bed.  That update came seriously close, best contact apple and tell them not to send the courier after all.

Overall this forum is fine, I just get wound up by people declaring its this, its that, its the other and especially the "I'm off back to windows"

idark77 - you really are not helping mate, it's software, me and others speculated it would be for over 100 pages of this thread.  It just didn't change anything to the end consumer.  If you work in product, dev etc you realise when you sell something it doesn't matter whether the thingmy bob or the squeegy b was broken to the customer, its just broken and in that circumstance you have 2 options.  Take it as accepted and live with it, or return it.

If people on this forum were genuinely told by apple staff it might be hardware then why should they believe you over anyone else.

The only useful things on this thread were options to get around it e.g. add a mouse and close lid and people who gave possible ideas to what might cause it but didn't claim to have the full answer and told people to either wait, or return.

Now I've updated, quick test and then it's off to beg for Apple forgiveness at doubting it would be out today and using my 14 day card.

I too won't be back on, thanks all for the few bits of advice and thanks everyone else for the comedy and endless emails :-)

Great! gonna try it out now.

So that will fix the issue for all operating systems? Is that firmware used global? (Sorry might be a dumb question)

It is actually not that easy to make a distinction on what is software and what is hardware issue.

    1. Many hardware issues can be fixed in software using the hardware.

    2. Many hardware issues can be fixed updating the firmware (software in hardware).

So in many cases even hardware issues are eventually software issues. But I hope the fix really works for everyone.
