The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

Fixed:  No longer broken.  Sit there all day and stare at the Console logs.  You'll see a ton of things going on that you have no clue about and could be interpreted as "problems".

Use the Mac or take it back, but quit posting this garbage if your Mac now works like it should.

If it doesn't, then it's got a problem that needs to be addressed.

Check Ifixit.com for 13rmbp and they show on their tear down DDR3L ram.

I've installed the EFI Update 1.3 on Retina late 2013 2.4/8/256 and.. Nothing is changed. I have the same kernel failure in the console(kernel[0]: The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2))

    How about you?

When you say 'nothing is changed', does this mean you are still having keyboard/trackpad freezes?

The EFI update was to solve the freeze issue.  The correlation between the console message (note, message not 'failure') and the freeze is pure speculation by people posting on this thread.

ok my keyboard just failed !!! and yeah i did the update !!! tryed to type in my password after sleep mode then just the right keyboard side worked. i restarted my mac, now it seems to be ok. i do not know how to find the error message in console because there are thousand of it.

just called apple munich and they told me to bring it back tomorrow and i will get my money back because there are no more 13" / 8 / 256 models available at the moment. i bought my book 17 days ago. so its ok for me but i am totaly dissapointed now of my first mac. i really tried to keep it but there are so many crazy things going on that i am happy to get my cash back. maybe i wait a month or two and give it another try.

i hope for everyone here that this has nothing to do with the new update or that kernel logs.

i really dont know what to do. maybe its just a little bug aswell and i have to spend a whole day tomorrow to bring my book back and finally i do not have a notebook anymore.

it just happend for one time, and i did some keyboard button testing so maybe maybe its just cause of this.

    i dont know ...

when i am at the google page and want to move through a word with the arrow buttons it doesent work.

they just work in auto repeat mode (hold em down for a second or so)

Sorry to hear on the one side. Happy to hear you will get your money back without discussions though. Since you described your keyboard to make some strange sounds, I would consider you might really have some assembly problem on your device. And we never heard before about only 50% of the keyboard working ... Sure sounds strange to me. I can not think of a way, software could cause this.

I would definetly exchange that device. There are some things going on no other people have reported.

When you use the term "kernal failure" what exactly do you mean by the word 'failure'? i.e. since when was a 'system log' immediatly a 'failure log'?

i mean i typed a lot of buttons while the mac was in sleep mode to proof their correct function and if they was built in right. this must has to do something with the keyboard crash. i never had such thing before and just at the moment i made the test it happend. maybe the mac had some problems that i pushed every button twice while he was in sleep mode.

in google my left and right arrow buttons do not work except in auto repead mode (hold down for a second).

can anyone try this out please. thx

Interesting.  My left and right keys don't work as singular clicks in the google search bar.  Work fine in address bar though.

What you mean by "in google" ?
Opening www.google.com in safari? Or are you talking about Google Chrome Browser?

But no matter what this brings out: take it back tomorrow to the store. Seriously. If that keyboard makes strange sounds and have a strange feeling and once already 50% of it died, it is defintely something strange going on.

They do work in the 'Bing' search bar though.  Strange, never noticed that before.
