Hello Everyone.

I have just got my new macbook pro retina 13 Haswell (October Model). This is my second day of usage and i have encountered sudden system freeze for 2 times already. The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

Could anyone tell  me what is going on or having the same issue?

thanks folks for the support and the fun we had since release, i bring mine back tomorrow and hope they act like promised. and indeed, things are going crazy now. its a thriller, like a gangster movie - the guy on phone gave me a womans name and i just have to ask for her, then i will get my money back. maybe i put on my black coat for the trip ...

i am now about to delete my files and also my account - hope they do not **** arround tomorrow.

finally let me say: this was by far the best looking notebook i ever had my hands on and i will buy it again in a few weeks or so. this was my first mac and i could start to cry now - its such a beautiful peace of ****.

anyone got idea when they start to ship the updated ones ? lol

the apple support was always there if needed and the people in the store were super friendly.

they had absolutely no clue about the well known problems but that might have to do something with their internal orders.

cant await to get the next one

    RIVERSTALKER,

Did you try the EFI update before deciding to return your machine?

    Way to go, man.
Bring it back, get your money and order a new one. It's thrilling to check on the order status every 1 or 2 hours ... lol. (been there, done that)
And then, when it finally says "shipping" and you can track online where it is, you feel like taking a plane to Hongkong yourself and picking it up there. 3 days later or so, the door rings and you know, it's x-mas time.

If you would have read at least a few of the last postings before posting this, you could have known that. Jeez ...

Sorry - I've only been following this thread from time to time. I'm just wondering if the EFI update has helped with the root problem or not - without having to read back over 150 pages!

    Hello everyone;

my first mbp retina 13 bought online one week ago "frooze" at initial setup, where u put the name and password, so i returned it.

Today i bought another one in a apple store, and guess what ? same problem, it freezed once i hit "continue" after filling the name and password ??!

plus, the macbook was definitely not new, plenty of dust in usb ports, magsafe port scratched... im going mental...

what do you think of that ?

As for the freeze problem, there is an update from Apple available at http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1704
    It will prevent the freezes.
As for dust in the USB port and scratches on the magsafe, it's up to you.
But what I'd do is check on the battery information inside the Systeminformation program. How many recharge cycles do you see there?

My friend, i am sure you will resolve tomorrow because Apple is a serious company.

Really sorry... But we will discuss again after you buy a new one.

No the EFI resolved freeze issue, these are logs of kernel on the console. Had you a freeze of keyboard/trackpad  ?

Yes, the macbook was sealed but as soon as i opened the box, you can tell that is a second hand; the black packing scratched, just like the magsafe port which is definitely a second hand symptom.

i reckon it's a refurb sold as new which is a disgrace because i paied a full price and not a refurb.
