The keyboard and the trackpad stops working including brigtness keys and volume control keys. i have use apple hardware test but no problem are found.

Yes, the macbook was sealed but as soon as i opened the box, you can tell that is a second hand; the black packing scratched, just like the magsafe port which is definitely a second hand symptom.

i reckon it's a refurb sold as new which is a disgrace because i paied a full price and not a refurb.

scratches at the magsafe port could be due to assembly as well. As I said before: check the charging cycles of your battery. If the MBP has ever been used without AC power, it will evry likelygive you more cycles than you have caused today. (You should remember how many times you plugged the magsafe in and out today, while the MBP was running in order to have a proof out of this)

Yes, my external apple keyboard is not working. dmesg says:

The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (1)

USBF:    69.310    AppleUSBHubPort::FatalError - Port 2 of Hub at 0x14100000 reported error 0xe00002c0 while doing setting port power

USBF:    69.411    AppleUSBHubPort::FatalError - Port 3 of Hub at 0x14100000 reported error 0xe00002c0 while doing setting port power

USBF:    120.225    AppleUSBHubPort::FatalError - Port 2 of Hub at 0x14100000 reported error 0xe00002c0 while doing setting port power

Now this looks a whole lot like broken hardware to me. My guess is that your external USB keyboard is broken. Or simply bad design.
Plug in some other USB device, like a memory stick and see what happens.

Sounds like the issue is still not completly resolved (a hack at best) what a shoddy way to role out a premium product (premium.. read expensive product). I'd wait for version 2 of this when they get both hardware and software up to snuff. also I think the apologists for Apple are misguided.. and misguiding others. Not buying this until it's flawless (or pretty **** close) will force them to ramp up the quality control etc.

    dear oli,

why ordering a new one as soon as possible. the devices may be faulty too ...

would be better to wait a few weeks ...

the 15 inch is no option, i would not take it for free - way to large. ok for free i may take it.

another chance for me is to ask the store if they could offer me a different model of the 13 inch cause the 2,4 8gb 256gb is sold out or they stopped selling it as anyone supposed here before.

maybe they make me a offer i can not refuse

my baby is packed in and i sit in front of our old hp book. battery has gone 2 years ago, no cordless anymore,

the display hurts my eyes and i always try to scroll arround with two fingers.

could be an interesting trip tomorrow, i checked my apple bill and the last 4 numbers of my bank account are totally wrong. the ones not hided. ???

Well, as long as you have your ID (passport) with you and so you can proove who you are, they should transfer the money to any bank account you want them to. Also, I assume you have your EC card with you, too.

I'd order one asap. Why wait? All devices that will go in production from now on will have the EFI update. Wait for what? For non-faulty devices? LOL.
Look: if we are right and this is software, you have the EFI fix. Finished.
If we are wrong and there had been a hardware issue - do you thin Apple would still produce devices with that issue?
Again: what do you exactly want to wait for? And how long? When will you know now it's safe for you?I would order it right away. It will take, let's say, 10 days. When it arrives, you check it. All good and nice? Perfect. If not - do as I did. Call the support, say you want to have your device exchanged. They will come to your home and pick it up for no cost. they will bring the new device to your door at no cost. And in my case they even agreed to send out the new device before I had to send my old one back. When the people from TNT or UPS arrive with my new rMBP, I will give them my "old" one.
Of course, it's up to you. But if I were you, I'd order the new one as soon as the money is back on my bank account. Waiting seems a little pointless to me.

Well, in that case you have only one option, I guess. Take it back to the store and have it replaced. Tomorrow is a very good day for doing so.

I have the new Macbook Pro 13 inch retina as well (256 GB SSD version) and I have downloaded the EFI update earlier today and got the message that the power adapter should be connected and that after that has been done at a next restart the firmware update would take place (at least that's what I believe I read).

But later on, when I connected the power adapter and restarted, no firmware update would take place. If I look in the installed software in the Software Information (via About this Mac), it says that the EFI update is installed.

So now I'm confused, because I didn't see it happening.

Could someone with the same Macbook Pro who had a succesfull update of the EFI, check what their Boot ROM version and SMC version is?

    These are mine:

    Boot ROM Version:MBP111.0138.B03
      SMC Version (system):2.16f58

    Thanks a lot!

Or, you can try closing the lid for a minute or two.

Excited and nervous at the same time! Please let me know! Thanks!

AdamVidalis so far so good, there have been no reports indicating the fix isn't working properly. Go ahead and order yourself one, I can assure you it's a little diamond.

    Enjoy

    @Oli.S72,

do a screenshot with this much of error will prove you and different time stamp, also with the model window, otherwise your voice is fake, because:

    1. you only showing 2 error, any 13inch has way more than that, like 1000+ after use of days, you got only 2, that's completely not a issue like 13 inch have, if mine 13 inch only got 2 i won't be worry. most people won't be worry about it. the number make difference.

    2. your timestamp is fake, it can't be the same second for this log, becuase the trackpad needs to be idle for 3-5 seconds before the system put it into sleep, so this log will at least have few seconds interval, yours is exactly same second, no matter how faster is the computer, but it need to be idle few seconds->sleep->wakeup, so that log can not be same seconds.
