Hey guys, i know you've been getting a lot of questions but this will be my first time getting a mac book pro and have been saving up to do so, big question is, IS IT SAFE TO BUY IT NOW? or will there be anymore hiccups from both the software and  hardware? Im most probably getting the baseline model with 4 gb of ram and 128 gb of storage.

    Feedbacks are most welcome!

i just gave mine back and will get my money back, apple service was briliant in munich store but nobody could tell me a thing about the 13 inch problems. i wait a few weeks and hope everything is ok then.

i dont know if it is absolutely save to buy a mac these days. they seem to have problems with mavericks and maybe maybe some hardware issues too. but nobody really knows.

for me i checked out the keyboards in the apple store and they are really different. each model i was typing felt different and the arrow buttons at the right side were sometimes ratteling like **** and others were just fine.

this is crap in my eyes, this is apple and the keyboard was allways one of their highlights.

now you just have to be the lucky one that receives a good keyboard. its a shame when some buttons are ratteling and others not. this is a premium product or at least should be one.

anyway, i would never buy this notebook with 4gb ram. you can not upgrade yourself and 4gb is way to unsave for the next 3 or 4 years. ssd memory depends on your likes but 8gb ram is the minimum.

Has anyone found what's causing this yet?
I phoned up Apple Care about how my touchpad and keyboard kept freezing up on my new macbook, and they told me it was was a hardware problem. They sent me a new one but I just got the replacement and it has exactly the same problem. I'm not entirely sure what can be done about it now...

i think no need to wait explanation from Apple i belive ever it's the haredware problem but they can use software to workaround or fix it. they will say SOFTWARE PROBLEM. if i am Apple i also do this except software really can not fix. they have to replace it. SURELY!

And for me i don't care much about this (of course i care some) because this notebook did not my first and did not my last useally i change ever 1-2 years. just get some expriance with this. so next time you will never buy anything just new relase again

i have no choice i need to use osx to develop App for Apple Store and i need it to small, fast, long life battery and light weight much as possble because i have to carry it offen and my existing Mac is Mini it can not carry it.

so for other people you can consider new 15" or use your old macbook pro if you can accept bigger and more weight or if you like and no need osx you can try some Ultrabook with windows base.

but if you have no choice same with me need to small and light weight with osx. The 13" rMbp it not too bad. ever they have some problem. (I take a break more then Macbook pro will do )

there is an update available at apple.com and every 13 inch is affected of the freezes. update your new book and see what happens.

    and oli would say:

if your not happy after a few days, order a new one or ask for refund

and nobody knows whats really going on dude.

If you want a different 13 rMBP with different Hardware you need to wait the new release, next year. Apple has this "bad" Hardware (for any) and "Good" Hardware (for other) in the store.

They resolved this bug with EFI updated and in my opinion when a bad component fails it is not simple to mask with software. A lot of time i saw smoke coming from motherboard...

I looked at console logs and the power management system is working pretty well, around 5 seconds you don't touch anything and it sleeps, you touch and it wakes up... You can use MBP with battery up to 10hrs. And do you tell me that inside there is a bad component and maybe it sinks a lot of current?

There are a lot of electronic books around internet, you can start to read it... Electronic for dummies or maybe the next time we can write a book Macbook for dummies...

Just one of my last considerations written with the fantastic new 13 Haswell rMBP.

What happened here is objectively not a big deal. Nasty Issue -> Firmware update -> Happy life

Explanations in detail is not what Apple is going to do. Since they fixed it, this file is now closed.

Apple did their job as expected. Nothing more, nothing less. Information level not higher than necessary. Following textbook procedures. So there won´t be any details from Apple. Details are not for the public.

    btw:

No way they would sell obviously faulty hardware and then try to fix it by software updates on the sly. Earlier or later, someone would find out about ... and game over. Just imagine the press releases. There are enough freaks out there literally anatomizing their macs all up and down and showing up on YouTube. So don´t worry.

Dude no one here can give you that sort of guarantee

No one wants to have something that's not working right but sometimes that happens and that's life and as far as swapping out faulty products go Apple is one of very few companies that actually makes things like that relatively stress-free.

    Hi,

I bought yesterday 13' macbook pro retina from Marbella Apple Store. Guy there was aware about the issues and said not to worry as at the end apple will fix or call for replacement. I bought it at the end and using heavily for last 12 hours. No freeze or hang as i applied also patch from apple.

All good with this stunning machine so enjoy also.

Since you can return it within 14 days - if you don´t like what you bought - it is safe to purchase and check it out.

No one can guarantee for your user experience but the main issue here has been fixed very very likely, and other systematic issues are not in sight for now.
