I've owned my 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro (2.4GHz/8GB/256GB) for two days now. I have everything fully updated, and everything is working extremely well. NEVER ONCE have I had one freeze or console error message. I don't know how to tell if most of you people are here trolling or you're actually serious.

Hi Adam, could you please upload a console capture? Are you sure that there is no usb errors? When you did you purchase your macbook?

    Regards.

I had a USB optical mouse in for a while. What USB errors are you referring to? I purchased my MacBook yesterday morning.

Let me ask you, what is so dangerous about the messages in the console?

"The USB device Apple Internal Keyboard / Trackpad (Port 5 of Hub at 0x14000000) may have caused a wake by issuing a remote wakeup (2)"

I see this message in my console constantly. What are the dangers of this?

Please, somebody clearly explain to me what is so dangerous about the console messages? I've had my new laptop since yesterday morning, I've installed the EFI and had absolutely NO problems what-so-ever. I just started using a USB optical mouse today. I've had absolutely no issues with this new machine. Why are people still complaing? Apple FIXED the issue.

Hey please do the following....to test weather it's a hardware problem..it's an automatic hardware tester function for mac itself....nd reply me...

You can use the Apple Hardware Test (AHT) application

to help determine if there’s a problem with one of the computer’s components, such as the memory or processor.

To use Apple Hardware Test: Disconnect all external devices from your computer except the power adapter. Restart your computer and hold down the D key as it starts up. When the AHT chooser screen appears, select the language for your location. Press the Return key or click the right arrow button. When the AHT main screen appears (after about 45 seconds), follow the onscreen instructions. If AHT detects a problem,

it displays an error code. Make a note of the error code before pursuing support options. If AHT doesn’t detect a hardware failure, the problem might be software related.

Bully for you.  Some of us have been struggling with this issue for almost two weeks now.  I bought on Nov 4, had daily freezes until the update on Nov 7.  Worked fine until yesterday when I had my first post update freeze.  Apple HAS NOT fixed the issue for some of us and that's what this thread is about.  If you don't have the problem, fine, but don't call the rest of us trolls because we do....

This has been happening to me too, very annoying and for a moment I thought I lost content on a connected drive.

Closing the lid doesn't work btw.  I can see that the system is working (e.g. the Dropbox spinning wheel) and ctrl+cmd+reset does something, however the system never comes back and I have to reboot.

It seems to happen only when I connect a 8Gb USB stick, which I bought 2-3 years back and works perfectly on a PC laptop.  The same key works on OSX, but sometimes the system freezes.

My configuration on the two crashes I experienced so far:

    * new MBP 2013, 16GB ram, 1TB SSD

    * Apple bluetooth Magic mouse

    * PCWorld USB hub on left USB port

    * Logitech USB keyboard for PC, via Logitech USB universal connector on USB hub

    * external Western Digital 1TB USB drive on right USB port

    * USB stick on USB hub

    * Second monitor on display port

99% of people didn't report trackpad/keyboard freezing issue after the EFI update was released.

To be sure about the issue i suggest to reinstall Mavericks and DO NOT INSTALL Flash plug in, Java, Chrome for a while:

    1. Press cmd+r and switch on the machine
    2. Initialize (format) using disk utility your SSD
    3. Download and install Mavericks from Apple server again
    4. Repair permissions from disk utility
    5. Do not install Flash plug in, Java and Chrome for a while or other staff not fully compatible with Mavericks
    6. See if it freezes again...

This is just my suggestion to isolate the problem.

@idark77 What EFI updates ?  I tried downloading v1.2 and v1.3 but they are "not supported":

I just bought my laptop so I would expect it to be already up to date.

Like many here, I thought the "trackpad/keyboard" freeze issue was fixed after the EFI update.

BUT NO LUCK.  For me it seems that it is happening a lot less than before the EFI update, but it is still happening for sure.

It just happened to me, again.  I was on a Gotomeeting conferance call, Not charging, using Chrome, also had Eclipse (Android development SDK) up, and......trackpad and keyboard froze.  The Gotomeeting was working fine (I hear the call and they hear me).  The screen goes dark because of inactivity; but the Gotomeeting is still working.  I stayed on the call for another 30 minutes...the keyboard NEVER came back.  After the far-end hangsup the Gotomeeting, I closed the lid for 5 minutes...re-opened the lid...and NOTHING.  Trackpad and keybaord still frozen.  I had to force a power cycle.

The ISSUE IS NOT FIXED for some of us (maybe all of us, it maybe a matter of time or a particular usecase!!!!)

I WANT A FIX ON MY NEW $2,300 Macbook Pro 13 inch computer (i7, 16 gigs of RAM)

    :-(

Yes, EFI 1.3 version is the new one but your new machine should be already updated.

A lot of people have problems using chrome browser...

I'm another person with a MBP 13" with freezing on occassion - the EFI 1.3 update is applied but I'm still having cases where it locks up and I have to force restart the device.

I think Apple needs to be a little more transparent on where they are on this - so we can feel happy that they care.

Apple Engineering called me last night after I had called in to Apple Support the day before on this issue.  He said they are working on it and wanted a unit that had had a freeze after installing the update.  Offered to send me a new computer in exchange for mine and I took him up on it; new one is on the way.  So, they know about the problem of post update freezing and are working on it....FYI

I had the same problem with my MacBook Pro Retina 13" freezing on the "Create a Computer Account" screen. I had to hard reset the machine (holding down the power button) and then I deselected the Set Time by Location and Send Apple Diagnostics check boxes and it worked.
