"Answer please! Someone have the same problems using Windows? Or it is only OS X bugs?"

I have never had any of the discussed browsers cause a hang up in Windows 7 or 8.

13" 2011 MBP, latest Mavericks update following release started causing random trackpad lock ups.  Hard reset works inconsistently.

IMO this is not exclusive to 2013s.

    +1

I am deterred by this, too. I might replace the battery in my ageing MBAir instead of buying a new MBPro - unless Apple gives us a solid response that the hang is fixed?

I am new to this thread but I have been getting my keypad and keyboard freezing on a latest model 15" retina MBP (usually awaking from sleep). I have been back a few pages but short of reading all 167 pages can someone tell me if it's been reported on the 15" as well?

I have just come across this thread. I have had my brand new 13inch mac pro doing the same as everyone else. Initially I thought it was me  as I am a new mac user. It cannot be chrome as I do not have that . I only use firefox. i am new to macs and I think I will have to return to windows unless it is fixed very quickly. It has wrecked my confidence. I have an appointment at an apple store here in the UK  in 2 days time so will see what they say. It doesn't sound good though does it

I bought a MBPr 13inch, 512 gbs about ten days ago. I got the one to one and Apple transferred my files including the EFI to fix the problems with the track pad and keyboard. I have not had any problems with either since picking it up. Hopefully it will stay this way.

I can only confirm your findings. I've got a 2.6 GHZ/16GB/512GB SSD BTO Model and had no problems before or even after applying the efi-update. Have been using the laptop constantly the last two weeks for work + school. * Fingers crossed * it stays that way.

Well....... both you and Meherabad's news gives me a bit more confidence that the 'genius' at the apple store will be able to fix it when I see him tomorrow. My machine has frozen everyday I have used it so far - if I went 10-14 days with no hiccups I would think it is sorted.

You both talk about EFI update - what exactly is EFI?

I have a suggestion for people that have had intermittant stability issues...  After disabling "appnap" for specific apps, my lockups have have stopped.  It's only been about 48 hours, but it looks promising.  Here's the terminal command:

defaults write com.apple.Safari NSAppSleepDisabled -bool YES

(change YES to NO to undo)

My issue, which others have also reported in this thread, is that my machine (late 2009 iMac) becomes unresponsive to any input except mouse tracking- keyboard does not work, nor do mouse clicks or pressing the power button for sleep mode.  After being in this state for 15 min, the system reboots as it tries to go into sleep.  The only thing that shows up in the logs is the crash caused by sleep mode.  Since appnap was primarily designed for safari, I would disable that first.

    Hey teamroche,

    try: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1704?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

or go to software update on your 13" MBPr, Haswell and it should be there. It's only for this type of Mac.

    Good luck.

EFI is a replacement for BIOS. For example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extensible_Firmware_Interface

Following up, I have not had a keyboard and trackpad lock up since applying the EFI 1.3 update the day it came out. I had 3 or 4 prior to the update with at least 2 happening in rapid succession on the day before the update. I was contemplating returning the notebook before my 14 day window closed; however, after applying patch things seemed solid.

    Hi,

You must mean the system freeze is back, despite efi and all fixes?
