I have a question regarding the EFI update:

Once you have installed the EFI update, is there a way of turning back? I mean if I do a clean Mavericks install, will this mean the EFI update will be gone?

    thanks ahead!

After 4 days using firefox, no crashes ! Today i tried to use back my default browser, which is chrome, crashed after like 5 hours of using it.

Good luck with your problem guys, until Apple come with a fix for  this, I have solved my problem... by not using chrome at the moment.

    cheers

New to IOS.  Bought a MBP 15.4 Haswell from B&H Photo ($2,500+).  Great for the first day.  Then this LAG started.  Overheating when photo editing.  Thought a dual-band router might fix the problem.  Bought a Linksys.  MBP worked FANTASTICALLY for about 5 days.  Went on a photo shoot.  Downloaded no more that 200 photos.  MBP overheated, shut down.  Rebooted couldn't connect to internet.  My Ipod, tablet and desktop all were fine.  Contacted B&H photo.  An Apple 'pro' claimed she'd never heard of any problems with the MBP Haswell.  Chatted with an Apple rep from...Apple...same answer.  Said I needed to contact Linksys.  Did that.  Still not working.  Returning my MBP 15.4 Haswell to B&H.  Not doing Apple again.  By the way, B&H photo has REDUCED the price of the MBP 15.4 haswell by $200.  Wonder why so...   NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!  )o: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<groan>...why is this machine cursed?!? It doesn't seem to matter whether you buy a 13" or a 15", you're still looking at a massive probability of getting bad hardware. I've been agonizing over Haswells for six months—insane. The awesome laptops we waited all summer for finally show up and they're garbage.

I can't imagine buying a machine and having to return it 5x to try to get a decent one. Would it make any difference (get the Geniuses to be nicer to me) if I brought in copies of all my receipts to prove that I've spent $30K on Apple stuff in the last 6 years? Hmmm...

Same problem here, 13" Retina, Early 2013, OSX 10.9. No response from keyboard, trackpad, mouse, without any reason.

No, it's stored in the computer's firmware so the update will still be there after you reinstall the OS. Maybe it would be possible to back up the current EFI before installing the new version but otherwise there is no turning back.

I have had my 15" Macbook Pro for less than a week.  I am seeing the trackpad fail to operate in a number of modes, primarily when operating Windows in Bootcamp.  As an example, I can click shutdown several times with no response  and two finger scroll stops working also.  I hope Apple comes up with a fix for this or I will have to return the Macbook.

I cannot believe that people are still replying in this thread. I have lately started reading the replies again after someone or a few claimed it still freezes after the EFI update...

Guys, the laptop is FINE. I have NO issues after the update. Whether some people have freezing issues with chrome or not, they should stop starting rumours about how it is bad hardware. There is no such thing as bad hardware, most hardware issues can be fixed via software/firmware updates which is what had happened in this case.

    Enjoy your new laptops
